Archdevil

The existence of the Archdevils is a closely-kept secret that is unknown to the wider breadth of Auria. Despite an attempt to prevent the spread of their knowledge, Mortals have been able to record their deeds into countless stories dating the Dusk of Dawn, although much of what they were capable of has been lost to time.

Archdevils are known to rival the Gods themselves and serve as the main leader figures of Demonkind.

Balor, The Eye of Destruction

Balor is the name given to a brutish Archdevil with three eyes - two normal ones and one giant one protruding out of his forehead, his Eye of Destruction. He was once a terror that threatened the stability of Gwynbrenon until the Goddess Thara used the unity of the Aest to build five shrines around Balor's lair, weakening his corporeal power, before Thara herself slew him in battle. Though she was victorious, Balor left Thara gravely wounded, forcing her to abandon her physical body and return to the heavens to recover.

Balor was capable of untold destruction when he walked Auria's lands. Where he stepped, craters formed; where he shouted, forests would fell; and when he channelled power into his eye of destruction the world itself heaved in anticipation. Unleashing his most powerful attack through his third eye, Balor could cleave a many-mile scar through the earth that effortlessly cut through anything and everything. Balor also wielded a sceptre in his hands, the whereabouts of his weapon currently unknown.

Orochi, Devourer of the Dragons

The only named Archdevil in recent history is Orochi, "Devourer of the Dragons". They were a eight-headed, eight-tailed creature that commanded a vast legion of Demons to assault the planet of Serena during the Dusk of Dawn. It is said that their breath was a beam of concentrated destruction that cleaved the Hanayama region in twine.

Orochi would suffer a death in the war but not all their Ether could not be permanently destroyed, instead it was captured and imprisoned into the land of Serena in order to prevent their resurrection in the Cosmos. Centuries later, the demon-worship clan known as the Oni would emerge seeking to revive Orochi on a number of occasion. During the Grand War, they would succeed in doing so when Jad'ir was occupied by a weakened Luxfordian force, serving as ample sacrificial meat for the ritual that could awaken Orochi in their Avatar-state. Though their rage was great and their power nothing to scoff at, the return of Orochi was short-lived as a mysterious Hero emerged and banished them back into the prison that held them in chains.
