Background

Beatrice is one of wolfen that was born in Somniva by a pair of nameless parents. Whether Beatrice forgot their name or truly they had none was up for discussion but she was raised by a father and mother. However in her young age, starting roughly at 14, she was recruited by a group called "Reverie Cleansers". Although they tried to gain respect they failed miserably. Their ways of dealing with the unusual affliction were met with severe distrust and disapproval from Wolfen and Dryad alike. With that their actions had to be done in stealth from the possible enemies and the people they tried to protect as this threat was different than The Nightmare. Shortly after being recruited Beatrice was picking up many various professions and tasks but it swiftly was shown she had affinity towards fighting and looking for details. This was reflected in her behavior that often was bringing much trouble, even between The Cleansers, as she tended to burst into rage and draw her blades, or other things onto others should they not agree.

During her Druidic and Reverism training at Reverie Cleansers Beatrice was growing distant from her parents at exponential pace, leading to regular fights between her and them. The internal fights resulted in Beatrice being barred all contact with anyone who associates with them but by now Beatrice had been indoctrinated too much and at nights was able to sneak out to further the goals of Cleansers. Her tasks were generally rather mundane, resulting mostly to delivering supplies, letters, stealing things of value like letters of officers and training under cover. Her relation with parents was slowly mending over the weeks yet both of them could see that Beatrice was constantly distracted or in high alert, as if afraid of something. With the unknown disease spreading in the afterlife and affecting people at random with unknown origin nor pattern she felt as if she was being pushed against a wall.

Two weeks after her parents noticed their daughter being stressed out Beatrice had received a letter from the Reverie Cleansers where she was requested to show up at a specific time and place to discuss important plans. With that once more she sneaked out of the house, yet this time her escape was sloppy and her parents got alerted of their daughter's disappearance. However, they didn't stopped her but instead followed, trying to understand where she was going and hoping that they could help her out in these uncertain times.

The run was long and dangerous yet her parents persisted with Beatrice being fully unaware that someone was following her. Her tiredness and constant stress dulled out her senses, letting her be followed. She still was able to arrive to place of meeting, deep in a forest where she would meet with two high-ranking officers of Reverie Cleansers - A male Wolfen called Riptail and a female Wolfen called Snarl. She wasn't aware of their proper names but she knew there was no need for that. During the meeting her parents have hid between the bushes, overhearing the talks between Beatrice and the officers. The orders were simple and short - she was supposed to steal an artifact called Fangs of The Father - a set of blades forged from Fenros's own fangs that were a key to resolving the ongoing problem. There was an opportunity to steal them during their transport to another vault as recent outburst of the infection put them at risk of being forcefully taken. Beatrice accepted the mission and the same night she had to join a group to retake the artifact.

Yet before she was able to go she heard a loud rustling come from the trees and soon Reverie Wolfen brought up Beatrice's parents. Both of them were tied up with rope as they were caught spying on her. A sudden fear was seen in Beatrice's eyes as she knew what always happened to the ones spying on them. With her parents forced onto their knees in front of her Riptail came to Beatrice and placed a hand on her shoulder, the other handing her a dagger, while saying a single command, "Kill." Beatrice got into fights with others in the past, have even stabbed some but never she had killed anyone. With her parents being presented to her like a sacrificial cattle her eyes swelled up with tears as she looked around, wanting to bargain a way out for them. Unfortunately neither Snarl nor Riptail were going to budge. The parents themselves stared weren't able to fight back as the father had hung his head dejectedly while the mother stared at Beatrice, her tear-swollen eyes staring back at Beatrice as if seeking for mercy... Or feeling pity for her daughter. Beatrice stepped up to her parents while barely seeing due to all the tears and said only, "I'm so sorry..." before doing the deed she was asked of.

With blood on her hands and bodies disposed Beatrice still had to regroup with the rest of Cleansers to retake the artifact. She ran to the spot while crying as the tremendous guilt weighed on her heart and mind. Once she got closer to the group she stopped weeping and instead tried her best to keep a cold appearance towards others, even if the swollen up eyes and face was showing a different story. The wait felt like forever for the caravan to appear but once it showed up the Cleansers waited for perfect opportunity before lunging. The fight was fierce and brutal. Blood and bodies were falling left and right and Beatrice didn't hesitate. Her strikes were true and kills swift as she embraced the fact she was a monster, a wolfen that couldn't be redeemed.

During the onslaught she was able to locate the artifact - an orange pentagon gem and she hid it in the pocket before fleeing the fight as she noticed the Cleansers losing the fight and only few of them remaining. She swiftly ran into the forest and changed into a cat mid run to try and lose the wolfen chasing after her. She was running through the forest for an hour straight, doing her best to lose them by jumping on trees and rocks to not make tracks, setting up quick vine traps to slow them down and she succeeded. At one point there was no one, only her, the relic and crushing guilt of being a monster. Beatrice found a small cave under a rock and crawled into it to get rest.

A whole day has passed as Beatrice was completely exhausted, her body barely able to keep her alive after all the recent events. When she woke up she noticed the gem being in her paw, yet with a changed shape somewhat resembling a kite, yet still being a pentagon. Nonetheless Beatrice was lost on where to go and what to do. She was alone, lost in the forest, with a relic that may save everyone and a tremendous fear for her own life. Beatrice crawled out of her tight hole and looked around, noticing the wild life here being very sparse and a nearby pond from which she could drink. Yet as she went there the crushing realization that she had killed her own parents struck her, followed by the recent bloodbath at the carriage. When at the edge of the pond she transformed into her wolfen form and cried a lot. Her body and armor was nearly fully drenched in blood and seeing her own reflection brought great sadness and then anger, an untamable wild anger at the monster she saw. She punched the reflection over and over before drawing out a dagger she had and looking at it. She had an idea on how she could deal with it, to get rid of this monster... Yet she couldn't bear that thought. Even after what she had done she was scared for her life and was not able to get rid of it. She still felt she had a job to do, that at least delivering the Fangs of the Father will help before she can go away. With that realization she changed into a wild cat and took a drink from the pond before slowly walking away, trying to find a way home... Or rather to Reverie Cleansers as her home was destroyed by her own hands.

Beatrice was lost for few days in the forest and even with her own skills that should be easily sufficient she was getting lost over and over again. Getting into the air as an owl to scout the forest didn't help at all as the weather was extremely foggy and windy, making it hard to stay in the air and see far. She wasn't able to locate any landmarks that she could refer to and instead she wandered. Only once the ugly weather has subsided she was able to find a proper way and soon was able to reunite with remaining Reverie Cleansers. They cheered her, called her a hero yet she felt like a monster, a irredeemable beast that shouldn't have right to live. With the relic in hand she walked into their den to turn in the treasure. Unfortunately for her the problems didn't end here as once she got deeper into the cave she got pounced on by the guards and tied up, the relic taken from her.

Snarl and Riptail showed up shortly after Beatrice's capture and took the artifact directly from her. Beatrice didn't put a fight yet she felt confused, as if something was wrong. She looked up at the officers, seeking for answers yet they both only showed ugly grins towards her, "You've proven useful enough. Time to put a dog like you down." Snarl said as she drew out her dagger. She grabbed Beatrice's chin and lifted her head up, looking into her eyes. The dagger was pointed towards her neck, ready to plunge yet Snarl just laughed in Beatrice's face, the mocking laugh echoed in Beatrice's ears. At first she wanted to die, to accept the death from other's hand yet the mockery she was being put through proven too much as yet again anger overtook her emotions. With a quick reflex she took Snarl's wrist into her maw off-guard and bit into it, instantly following that by tossing her against the wall with massive strength. Snarl yelped in pain and Riptail drew out his weapon, ready to go for Beatrice. The timing was horrible for everyone involved however, as at the same time their den got attacked by the artifact guards that were seeking for it.

Riptail tried to flee but Beatrice was able to shapeshift out of the ropes as a cat and lunge after him, toppling him and going to bite his hand. During that bite and anger Beatrice swallowed the gem that he held, making it land in her stomach. It made her cough and want to puke, all while Riptail tried to topple her and aim for her stomach to take the relic out. Before he had any real chance to cut her open they were surrounded by the relic guards and subdued. After that event they were put in separate cells and made to wait for a trial. Beatrice's trial was first out of all and once on the proceeding it was explained why.

With all eyes on her, Beatrice felt uncomfortable yet she felt like she deserved it. In her blood-stained armor she stood in front of the Dryads, Fairies and Wolfen who were involved in protection of the relic and overseeing the Reverie Cleansers as they were an organization that was on verge of being forbidden... With current events all Reverie Cleansers were now declared criminals and their methods condemned by others. With Beatrice being presented to be judged she kept her gaze low, full aware she didn't deserve anything good.

The process itself was concise and moderately long where Beatrice still had issues with believing regarding the outcome. She was exiled from Somniva by everyone and meant to be released to Gwynbrenon the same day. She could take a chest of her belongings that would be first inspected before being exiled. During her hearing Beatrice was interrogated regarding the relic but she was unaware of where it was as in the heat of the fight she didn't realize she swallowed it and was surprised that no one found it. She also said she never killed anyone prior to being forced to kill her own parents, moments before the attack on the caravan and that she only ran away in fear during the fight. During the attack on the caravan she did take her wolfen form, giving her bigger animosity than expected, as some were exceptionally skeptical towards her while some felt a pity for the exceptionally young girl who was indoctrinated into a cult and made to kill her parents. Whether it was due to pity or lack of insufficient evidence to hold her accountable she was given another chance at life. With that she was escorted with two wolfen guards to her house where she could pack her chest before being exiled.

"I don't deserve to live. It must be a joke." She muttered as she walked with the wolfen who kept a keen eye on her, overhearing her self-mumbling and feeling a shred of remorse for her. Once at home Beatrice instantly went to check on her parents' room but it was empty, the bed left in minor disarray as they had chased after her. That thought only made her sob ugly for few minutes before she could gather herself up and slowly pack her chest with things that held a tremendous value to her. She packed a toy of a dragon that she was given by her mother, clothing that was sewn for her by the father and other miscellaneous items she held dear. Once the chest was packed the guards checked them all before allowing her to take them.

During her walk Beatrice was stopped by a female wolfen she somewhat remembered, a friend of her parents. She asked the guards if she could take Beatrice few steps away from them so she could be given a touch of privacy as she wanted to speak with her directly. Hesitantly the guards agreed to that and the wolfen was able to look Beatrice into her eyes, she looked close to her mother and at times she felt like one even if she rarely interacted with her, "I'm so sorry Beatrice. It shouldn't have happened this way. I... I really wish I could do more." She said and hugged Beatrice, who stood nearly lifeless, her arms weakly hugging the woman who looked back into her eyes, "I still can't believe that I thought you had died when you got afflicted by the plague two years ago... I feel so, so guilty." She said to her and it only made Beatrice wonder what she was hearing as she didn't remember the time she was afflicted by it, not mentioning being so sick in her life that she was about to die. Yet with how sincere her actions and words were Beatrice was left with only more confusing thoughts and emotions. "Me? Dead?" She asked her back and the woman shook with her head, "N-no. At some point I remember your parents being in disarray, in panic as they felt they were about to lose you but after few days I saw you back, standing tall and proud... I wish you'll be able to stand like that once more." The woman said and wasn't able to interact more as the guards came by and took Beatrice away as they had to go. The girls said their farewells and Beatrice focused on the task at hand.

Being exiled was a quick unceremonious process. She had her chest tossed in first through the portal and afterwards she had to walk in. She took one last look at Somniva before saying farewell to it and landing in a forest close to Nytlerei. With her being left alone in an unknown world the emotions came crashing down on her once more. The panic, anger and fear of unknown accumulated into one nasty bomb of emotions before Beatrice started to puke her guts out next to a tree, the swallowed gem falling out of it as well. At first she didn't notice it but once she was done and saw the familiar gem she gasped and took it into her hands, a fear coming back to her as she knew that she now had the artifact with her and she will be chased after sooner or later. With that she hid the gem into her pocket and took the chest, swiftly scouring deeper into the forest to live in a cave for weeks to come as she had to slowly scout, adapt and learn of her new surroundings.

Nowadays for years Beatrice roams the world confused and learns all anew about the powers in play and various planets as everything is now different. With her equipment and previous experience she survives well enough but by being left alone in unknown world with no goal she has to figure things out and set a new goal to strive towards while the weight of her past actions are still walking in her shadow, reminding her about themselves whenever they can. During that time Beatrice had picked up on the artifact she received, slowly but steadily learning about its powers as her paranoia and fear was being reforged into a weapon and a new goal, culling down Reverie Cleansers as she felt they were the ones to blame for what she was put through.

Physical Appearance

Beatrice is a triple fur-mix between black, brown and patches of white. She's well-toned rogue of solid strength that has a pair of orange eyes. Her snout has scratches from various fights and due to that nowadays she is used to being firmly armored while still striving to have enough flexibility.

Beatrice wields a pair of daggers on her hips and a fan of daggers on her back that are floating and are on her command. However that type of attire is not always fitting her, especially when using her Shrevir form. As it is known Wolfen tend to be humans but not only humans were cursed as their ranks were supplemented by various races. With that Beatrice decided to adopt more feline-like form to fit her agility, cunning and her fierce temperament while barely standing 171 cm tall.

When in her Hybrid Shrevir Beatrice tends to wear leather armor with metal guards to strengthen it and protect from sharp objects. The center gem in the armor serves as an empowerment gem for her guard and is also a crucial device to keep all 8 blades work in unison with their wielder's mind and movements.

Notable Skills

Beatrice is a skilled rogue, a practitioner of Reverism and wielder of Fangs of Fenros. With such combination and her curious mind it was only a matter of time before she would develop techniques and skills that she found rather personal.

Blood Simulacrum - Beatrice is able to create up to three copies of herself that are fully autonomous and share Beatrice's behavior and train of thought yet still have their own unique ones. They also react the same way to inflicted wounds and other mental things like real Beatrice. Simulacrums that are conjured without major blood offering are weaker and don't persist for long time. These are mainly used in combat where Beatrice is outnumbered or needs to lose trail of her assailants. They can also be used out of combat in more conventional way as an additional pair or two of hands to lift objects or do more menial tasks.

Blood Corruption - Reverism has influenced Beatrice in a heavy manner and so it did her healing methods. Beatrice did regularly use more classic druidic spells to tend to her wounds but since her parents murder that she committed and owning Fangs of Fenros she instead noticed that gathering blood of her enemies to treat her wounds and speed up healing process of her body was faster and more efficient way. With that each wound she inflicted upon living being could be turned into further advantage to her as she would directly sap the life force out of them to heal herself, a practice that will be frowned upon by many. With that Beatrice has no direct need to eat and drink as long as she can feast on blood, although she does -not- resolve to that unless necessary.

Blade Dance - With Fangs of Fenros Beatrice embraced a different type of fighting, a graceful dance of a sharp mind and a brute force of an angry teenager that she regularly switched between. With that her attacks at times may seem completely random and incoherent, trying to mainly benefit on the act of surprise and precise strikes to finish the fights fast. It had its drawbacks in form of getting entangled in her own thoughts that would spoil her plans ahead of the time as the blades would get erratic at wrong moments.

Fenileron - Beatrice has a snake tattoo that wraps around her left arm. From that tattoo she's able to conjure Fenileron, a crimson-black snake that has lethal magical poison. It is connected mentally with Beatrice and is able to provide her information it sees and feels, that includes any wounds it were to suffer or get killed which would result in temporary numbness of her arm.

As time goes on it's possible for Beatrice to develop her skills further, allowing for evolution of her current spells and skills or even gaining completely new ones but so far that's the current state of her skills!
