In the world of Auria there exist different classifications for different types of lifeforms, each with different origins and purposes, to serve the will of Order or the cause of Chaos.

Archdevil

Their names spoken only in whispers; Their images nightmarish and unbelievable; Their presence ever apparent - The Archdevils are the demonic equivalent to Gods who serve as masters of the Demons themselves. It is unknown how many actually exist in the grand scheme of things but one thing's for certain: A clash between a God and an Archdevil can end in either one's favour.

Beast

When there was nothing, there were the Gods, beings of great power who held control over the existence and continued workings of what would become Auria. These beings of high regard would take unique forms and from these forms the inspiration to create the appearance of the Beasts was taken. In a debate between who came first: The Beast or the Mortal - the right answer is Beast.

Beasts are naturally occurring creatures in the wild that are intelligent but primal, never straying from their original purpose. They are regularly hunted for their meat, hides and other body parts with some Beasts being docile enough to be tamed or kept as livestock.

Demon

Demons are creatures originating from other Galaxies who have since then fallen into the ever-ceaseless void of the Cosmos, permanently transforming entire races into creatures left without a true will of their own anymore. They are evil by nature and seek to cause havoc and destruction to all in their wake so that they may suffer the same fate as them.

Demons are the natural enemy to all who serve Order and continue to clash with them in an endless war that sees no result. They are led by Archdevils, Demonic entities that mirror the might of the Gods.

God

Serving as the gears in the machine of existence, the Gods are beings created by a superior power to act as aspects in a galaxy's functionalities. They possess incredible power thanks to the high amounts of Ether dwelling within their divine forms but this also prohibits them from entering the physical realm unless it is through an Avatar, which greatly reduces their epic might.

All Gods rely on the mystical powers of Faith to fuel their continued existence. To be forgotten by Mortals is to perish for a God.

In the highest seat of power there exist the six Prime Gods from which serve as the origin points for the remaining Gods. The Prime Gods are innately superior in power over regular Gods as they do not have a reliance of Faith to exist though it still contributes to their power.

Regular Gods may also create off-spring known as Deities that can exist in both the Physical Plane and the Incorporeal one. Deities are famous for acting as physical commanders for the armies of the heaven.

Monster

Monsterkind are creatures that blur the line between Beast and Mortal. They are placed upon Auria to pose a challenge on Mortalkind in order to hone them in preparation for an inevitable clash with the Cosmos, often resembling certain Demonic races to a T but given a more natural look.

There has been a long discussion regarding the true limits of Monsters. Some, like Goblins, have the makings of a Race that could allow them to one day found their own empire, elevating them from the status of Monsterkind to Mortal Race.

Monsters can also be creatures created by the Gods to serve a greater duty - The Elementals are elemental soldiers who exist in the physical plane in order to improve their own skills while the ancient Ydnesuur are peaceful Monsters that live in unison with the Wylderin and serve as protector deities to the World Trees.

Mortal

Sophisticated when they want to and always striving to evolve - the Mortal Races of Auria are many and varied. They were shaped after the image of Gods with many Mortals resembling anthropomorphic Beasts as a result.

Mortals are defined by the ability to create elaborate societies which grow and evolve into whole Kingdoms. Though it is easy to only think of the current Mortal Races, history has left behind numerous signs of now-extinct races who had their own kingdoms rise and fall from and to nothingness.

Dragons are also a Mortal Race despite their own ignorance often painting themselves separate from the other Mortals.

Soulborn

In death, the spirits of the living ascend into the heavens known as the Afterworld where the ether is reaped from them and added to the reserves of the Gods. What is left is a Soul who has been granted a new life in the everafter, able to enjoy an eternal existence pursuing whatever it is that they desire.

Yet this desire often translates into a want to return to the realm of the living and continue to aid them; or to join the divine army of the Pantheon as a holy soldier. For the Souls that yearn for a cause greater that leisure there exists the option to offer themselves unto a God and be transformed, becoming blessed with a new purpose and the ability to traverse between the corporeal and incorporeal.

Examples of Soulborn are Angels, Dryads and Nymphs.

Undead

In the natural cycle of life and death, a life ends when the physical body crumbles and the soul leaves to give itself unto the Afterworld, but what happens to those who cannot yet move into an afterlife?

The Undead are unholy creatures either tainted by the Cosmos to be prevented access into the Afterworld or simply refused to let go of their mortal coil and continue to linger the world in undeath. How an Undead comes to be has yet to be explored fully but it is theorised that a part of their soul lingers in their rotting corpse and enslaves their soul from passing on, cursing the two of them to wander in a state of mental instability.
