The Draconic Empire (Sometimes called the Dragon Empire) is the faction under what most Dragons and Draken of Auria belong to. Being one of the strongest and most influencial kingdoms in the world, the Draconic Empire holds a watch over every planet in the galaxy. The empire is led by the Dragonqueen Zamendrya and her Dragonlords.

Background

When Zamendrya and Xaxandros were first chosen to be the physical guardians of Auria, they were also given immense power which they were meant to use for the good of the galaxy. Positioned on the planet Dragoosh, the two god-like beings watched over not only their own planet but all eight planets of Auria. While Zamendrya sought to watch over the life which spread across the galaxy and flourished in curious and interesting ways, Xaxandros would dwell on the logistics of reality and existence itself causing him to slowly descend into madness when the Cosmos itself started to take root in his soul and corrupt him from within. This led to a devastating war which resulted in the destruction of Dragoosh, the corruption of Heras, Goddess of Law, and the imprisoning of Xaxandros within the Underhell.

After Xaxandros' downfall and imprisoning, Zamendrya was left as the sole protector of Auria. In her solitude she founded a new home in Wyrmeron where she laid her first eggs, children of Xaxandros long before he was corrupted. In the name of her fallen planet Zamendrya called her own species the Dragons and amongst her children she would seek the help of the males to further their kin, laying hundreds of eggs that would bear more of her kind for the sole purpose of becoming the protectors of Auria and dividing the effort that had befallen upon her. Over their first millennia, Zamendrya's flight grew to the hundreds nearing the thousands and she knew that eventually there would be too many for her to control. Fearing what may happen to Dragons that are not looked after her, the Dragonqueen had her children build a mighty city in the mountains of Winterfury, calling it Dragonhearth and in it established a system of chosen Elders to hold watch over the different sectors of Dragons in their growing empire and later on even handpicked a number of Dragonlords who would lead expeditions onto other planets, among them being Venorion.

Overtime this system would evolve into an empire of Dragons simply titled the Draconic Empire. Dragonhearth would grow into a bustling city full of Draconic activity and expanses of knowledge. To aid the Dragons in protecting Dragonhearth and completing simpler tasks, Zamendrya also created a race of humanoid Dragons called the Draken who would become the core military of their empire while the Dragons remained as the elite fighters used only in dire times. As a major part of the empire, the Draken would gain access to the lower city of Dragonhearth and make it their capital while their draconic masters and mistresses lived in the upper city. The Draken are also mortal representatives of the Dragons as they are allowed to walk the lands of Auria in more peaceful manners as opposed to the larger, feral Dragons. Still, many cities do not trust the Draken as see them more as spies infiltrating their nations.

The Draconic Empire is both feared and revered by other nations of Auria. Some believe they exist to endanger or subjugate mortal lives while some rarer individuals see them as gods and treat them like so. In recent times a new sect of extremist Dragons and Draken have emerged, calling themselves Zealous Verdict. These Dragonkin serve to do just what the Mortals envision the Draconic Empire wish to do by regularly raiding settlements and attacking mortals without remorse, causing the fragile alliances that the Draconic Empire has with the mortals to be endangered. Though little is still known of their origins or motivations, the Draconic Empire has marked any Dragonkin a member of the Zealous Verdict an enemy of their empire and make an effort to detain or silence their cause.

Social Structure

All of Dragonkind is united under the banner of the Draconic Empire. In the empire, social standing is based on the role of the individual as well as the lineage from which the Dragon comes from. Above all stands Zamendrya, the Dragonqueen, with the Dragonlords directly beneath her. Next in the social pyramid is the Ring of Elders, a convocation of Elder Dragons who are seen as the main governing power of the empire.

Next are the Highborn who come from an historic and important bloodline that has contributed to the evolution of the empire in some way or other. As per tradition, Highborn Dragons carry with them a name that is a combination of their own identity as well as the four-letter name of the bloodline they come from. (Example: Anderaku is from the infamous Raku bloodline)

The Lowborn are those who carry no important family name with them and as such their names are often times less organized and consistent than with those of the Highborn. Although in a systemically manner they are lower in a social standing, most Highborn see the the Lowborn as equals in person, with very few discriminating the idea of identifying themselves with the Lowborn.

The Draken and the Wyaur are a notable part of the Draconic Empire as well, serving as the foundation of their continued society.

Draken are tasked with organizing and up keeping their city as well as whatever lairs they may live in outside of Wyrmeron or serving in the empire's prime military as soldiers and generals. Draken themselves are split into three social classes: Chiefs, Architects and Commoners. Each Draken is also able to go through a self evolution through the Rite of Ascension, which often also raises their social standing. All Draken are born Stewards who are the most populous of the Draken, oft serving as commoners, architects or engineers of the Empire while a select few also pursue a life in the military, though they are expected to complete their rite at least once if they want that. Draken who have ascended into Aspiranthood may still serve those previous roles but they are welcomed and expected to serve as foot soldiers in the military of the empire, able to partake in lessons of finding themselves a fighting style and serve under the guidance of a Military Commander. Lastly, the Devoted Draken are those who have passed the rite of ascension twice and they are placed on a high pedestal as champions and generals of their kind. Certain Draken may also serve directly under a Dragon's will.

Wyaur are the laboring force and also a military force of the Empire that closely work together with the Draken in building structures and machines as well as repairs while in combat serving as an elite form of cavalry class unit often in the front lines or serving as a respected mount for a Draken to ride into combat with. Higher ranking Wyaur may also serve directly under a Dragon as a servant much like the Draken. The Wyaur do not have separate social classes as everyone among them is expected to be a laborer, militant or servant however a select few prestigious enough have been given the rank of Ser which allows them to act as a lord over other Wyaur and live above the menial labor that their kind is forced into.
