Dragonlords are six immortal Dragons blessed with immense power.

During the Galaxy's infancy Dragons, under the leadership of Matron Zamendrya and Patron Xaxandros, lived harmonious lives on the planet Dragoosh. In the wake of the Dusk of Dawn the planet was destroyed and all but six Dragons were slain in the aftermath. Zamendrya tasked these survivors to fly out and take roost on each remaining world to keep vigil over them, sacrificing fractions of her own lifeforce to bless them with immortality. On each world the now-known Dragonlords would establish communities known as Flights that would foster close-knitted relations with one another as well as neighbouring mortal societies. In time there would be those that lived in Dragonhearth that sought to explore the world beyond their Arcatech walls and gilden avarice, thus they would make for one of these flights and find new families in them.

As leaders of their Flights, the Dragonlords would also be the progenitors of their numbers. Many members of a Dragonlord's Flight are directly connected by blood with him or her, who has fathered or mothered countless generations in their immortal lives. However with centuries in passing, the Dragonlords saw change in themselves too. Their physical bodies were slowly altered to fit the environment they lived in better, leading to their future off-spring to also carry those forms.

Voices of the Lords

It is said that a Dragonlord can bear a legendary gift to those they trust, a Voice of Power which can invoke that respective Dragonlord's primal powers.

The Dragonlords

Venorion
First of the Dragonqueen
Born from the first egg ever to be laid by Zamendrya, Venorion was but a helpless whelp when the galaxy was torn asunder by Xaxandros' wrath. Having to bear witness to strife and tribulations before he could make a wingflap, Venorion became battle-hardened who by the end of the great war and even in the wake of demonic corruption prevailed by his mother's side. He quickly became known as the Lord-Champion of Dragonkind for his heroics in the name of preservation and it would be he that inspired the creation of the other Dragonlords. When it was time to leave his mother to tend to his new duties as Dragonlord, Venorion would do it with steel determination but a heavy heart, uncertain of the future of his Dragonqueen when he is not beside her.

Venorion dwells on Zamen Isle, an island off the western coast of the Triones Fractures in Imperia. Named after his mother because it reminded him of her warmth, Zamen Isle is cloaked in blackened ground from the volcanic activity present throughout it. Venorion has developed his lair, Zamen's Wake, into a strong community of down-to-earth Dragons seeking to enjoy a cultured but humble lifestyle. Inspired by Zamendrya's love for mortalkind, Venorion has made it his personal matter to interact with the neighbouring kingdom of Luxfordia in a moderate amount, the most notable of this would be when he did battle with the Champion of Darksorrow Tharus but rather than kill the man, he befriended him after.

Terrak
The Stonehearted
Among the Dragonlords, Terrak is the youngest. But a whelp still in it's eggshell when Dragoosh met its end, he was found by and carried to safety by Venorion even as the land was ripped apart at the seams. Due to his youth, Terrak was placed under the protective care of Zamendrya herself, who nurtured and healed him like he was her own, fulfilling the wishes of his late, true mother who Zamendrya had known decades prior. Thanks to his upbringing, Terrak gained a powerful bond not only with his adoptive mother but also Venorion, whom he would come to see as his brother. The two became inseparable for a time, but Terrak was not meant to stay in the newly-build Dragonhearth under Zamendrya's wing.

When Terrak came to be a century only, the Flights of the Dragonlords was initiated by the Dragonqueen, who believed that the survivors had to scatter to the winds and establish new footholds all across Auria. Terrak saw in himself a debt that he could never hope to pay, one that he owed to the family that took him in and provided him warmth for all these years. For this he, the last to be given the blessing of the Dragonqueen, would leave not with sorrow but pride burning in his strong heart, announcing to Zamendrya that he shall make her proud. Terrak would fly to the last planet not yet chosen and settle his Flight in a valley he would call Terrak's Vigil.

At some point the Primal Flamewar would break loose, causing Ignis Incendius' wrath to manifest in the form of a great meteor hurling from Auria's Sun. As it would happen, Grukoor would be in the meteor's trajectory as it was hurdled across the galaxy in a flash of light, wiping out all life on the planet and changing it forever. However Terrak would sense the primal energies coalescing in the sun and make what preparations he could in what little time he had to shelter his own kin from a fiery death. He saw his Flight led off-world toward Zhagunoz' lair on Saberos, but in a panic that followed them, a nest of his own eggs were left behind. Rather than leave them for good, Terrak returned to his lair to shelter them from annihilation, using his own body to blanket them from the wrath of flame.

Terrak would survive the impact, with the eggs preserved. He emerged from the quakened earth of his designated world bound by elemental forces. His body was engorged with bronzen earth, his eyes burning with a radiant energy yet his heart, true as ever, unchanged. In the wake of the Flamewar, Terrak would reestablished Terrak's Vigil even if it meant watching over a deserted planet. His elemental evolution carried over to the children he saved, creating the first Wyverns. As the new world they watched over also evolved to become harsher and less forgiving, Terrak's Wyvern would become engorged on physical prowess, becoming the Draconic Empire's toughest Flight.

Charen-Karr
The Naturebound Guardian
Known during his youth as a rebellious yet cunning individual, Charen-Karr lived his early life as a student of nature's bounty, studying under Xaxandros himself before the Cosmos took him. Charen-Karr was devastated yet incapable of forgetting his teacher's true nature even as his twisted form cast a shadow on his former homeworld. As a separatist who did not directly agree with Zamendrya's ways, Charen-Karr spent the years during the Dusk of Dawn fighting alone and researching the nature of Xaxandros' total corruption in hopes of finding a cure for it, desperate to bring back his teacher. Even after the dust settled and Xaxandros was defeated, Charen-Karr continued to study Cosmology in order to solve the anomalous nature of Cosmic influence. Yet in his lonesome studies he would observe his own people suffering from sickness wrought forth by Demonic corruption. This would allow him the opportunity to realise his true purpose, to use the knowledge he had already accrued to heal fellow survivors. For this, Charen-Karr was entitled "The Naturebound Guardian", though he would only get to know this later when Zamendrya approached him with an invitation into the new Empire.

Charen-Karr would be the last surviving member of Dragoosh to join Zamendrya's efforts of uniting and healing their broken people. Charen-Karr helped in establishing a union of healers and gatherers to make life sustainable for them. Later he would travel to the northern foothills of Tranquilon as a Dragonlord, seeking to honour his teacher's lessons and wishes and continue to learn from the natural world. Unfortunately, the duty of becoming Dragonlord did come with its own difficulties, like when he and his kin began to experience the Draconic Evolution that others also did as well as the Wars of Drakes that followed, causing the land he promised to protect to become ruptured and heaved, creating the ashen mountains of Emberos where once where lush woodlands and fertile hills.
