Background

When the Dragonqueen's brood took flight and begun a rapid expansion across Auria, the Dragons that landed in Gwynbrenon would soon adapt and evolve into the Drakes, wingless Dragonkin that were made to prowl the ground on all four feet like wild animals.

The Drakes of Gwynbrenon have since time immemorial acted as the Guardians of the woodland, becoming creatures of recognition among the ancient Elves and the spiritual Trolls alike. Made to resemble the various beasts that roam the forests and mountains, the Drakes live off of the wilderness and act as one with nature, hunting and preying upon lesser creatures for sustenance as well as to keep the natural cycle from going out of balance.

Led by the cunning Charen-Karr, first of the Drakes, their bloodline has forever been controversial thanks to inner turmoils and greed oft conflicting with their task of being protectors, ever a chance for personal gain took hold, few Draken individuals would grasp upon the opportunity and tear their reputation down, causing splinter groups of Charen'Karr's brood from forming which act against his eternal will, forever driving a war between his own kin and the kin of the oppressors. Upon a point in history, mongrels of savage Cin-Drerr took to the northern mountains of Tranquilon and begun assaulting the native mortals that lived their, thirsting for blood and flesh above a beast. In hopes of stopping this, Charen-Karr personally led his forces against Cin-Drerr where both sides used not only their strength but also their immense magics to turn the land into a hazardous battlefield that ruptured the land beneath, awakening dormant pockets of magma and causing them to erupt from the mountain tops, flooding the land in lava. Though Cin-Drerr was ultimately subdued by Charen-Karr and bound underneath the volcanic lands of Emberos.

Over the ages, Charen-Karr's brood would remain vigilant across the land yet with every generation their numbers would shorten as the delicious promise of rebellion trickles his kind away into offending sub-groups that live to sow chaos as well as harass and kill for their own leisure. Those living in the Emberos region have melded the element of fire with their bodies, turning them into Elemental Drakes or Emberosian Drakes.

The Drakes loyal to Charen-Karr have also remained loyal to the Draconic Empire but they are viewed as unpredictable and tainted by the other Dragonkin.

Powers

Emberosian Drake

Drakes are quick and strong Dragons that are limited to ground-based combat as they cannot fly. As a Drake grows older, their scales become rougher and sharper, growing spikes or other sharp husks over their bodies which can be used for impalement or simply rebelling melee attackers. Emberosian Drakes have adopted the element of fire directly into their body, causing their skin to glow with molten radiance and give off immense heat that can set ablaze anything near to them. Their feet and hands are sharpened with hot metallic claws that can cut through multiple layers of armour and their scales are tougher than traditional Dragonscales.
