Druidic Coven
During the age when the nature of magic was still unimaginable and Gwynbrenon remained a unsettled wilderness, the founders of the future Elven kingdom would come face to face with an onslaught of Demons pouring forth from an ancient and holy site known as the Gate of Dreams. Together with the forces of the world thereafter, the Elves fought against the outpour of monsters and succeeded in securing the portal for the side of good. In the aftermath of the battle, the Elves and their Dryad allies created a fortified temple upon the hill where the portal stood and begun a sophisticated civilization there. From around the temple, a city grew within a short few decades that attracted more and more Elves to live away from camps and tribes. Within shrines erected in the city a select few would learn begin to learn the practice of Druidism inspired by an ancient Elven hero known as Wyld, the first Druid.
Years down the line, the Coven of the Black Decay would emerge with the self-same powers of Druidism but they would not use it for preserving nature or protecting it but instead the counter opposite. Their villainous ways would mark them as enemies of the Wylderin with whom they would do battle continuously. From this coven, a few would branch out and form a new one called the Coven of the Thorned Growth that would eventually return to the Wylderin and be instrumental in the development of Druidism as a whole, aiding in developing the culture of the Druids. With the Thorned Growth at the forefront of their studies, the Coven of the Silver Crescent and the Coven of the Golden Disc were founded as the first Prime Covens - from the former the Coven of the Flowing Water and the Coven of the Raging Wind were born and from the latter the Coven of the Wild Fire and the Coven of the Stalwart Earth were made.
Each Coven is led by a Druid who has mastered the ways of their respective coven. Leading a coven is a lifelong duty and during it, the Master of the Coven chooses successors who have shown the skill required to be the next leader.
Like how the Prime Gods give birth to lesser Gods and Demigods, lesser Covens have been created and branched out from the six Prime Covens which focus on lesser but still invaluable aspects of nature.
List of Prime Covens
Alach'Caraid, the The Silver Crescent - Worshipers of the Moon, this Coven finds power in the night. Like the many faces of the moon, the Coven of the Silver Crescent are the masters of shapeshifting - those aspiring to perfect the art of transformation should pay heed to their lessons. The Silver Crescent also worships Perisha, Goddess of Death, as well as Malva, Shikaze and Anub, although their ancient texts never refer to them by name but as the "Three Children of the Moon".
Dhiadhrian, the The Golden Disc - Worshipers of the Sun, this Coven finds power in the day. They wield purifying powerful solar magics for both healing and destruction. Although Ra-Mun is the God of Light and the Sun, the Coven does not recognize him by name in any way and simply revere the actual physical Sun as a God and provider.
Lha'Saimaor, the The Wild Fire - Practitioners of fire magic, this Coven teaches its followers how to wield nature's fire. They embody nature's wrath in the form of attacks fuelled by anger and rage, a dangerous weapon that the Druids of Fire learn to control and harness at a young age.
Aglua Treoir, the The Flowing Water - Practitioners of water magic, this Coven teaches its followers how to wield water and ice. They are close to the Coven of the Silver Crescent and as such often share and even trade students to learn from one another, much like the tides are influenced by the moons. They are masters at controlling the element of water as well as meditation, healing and cultivation.
Dhaireadh, the The Raging Wind - Practitioners of wind magic, this Coven teaches its followers how to wield wind and lightning.
Taalamh, the The Stalwart Earth - Practitioners of earth magic, this Coven teaches its followers how to wield earth.
List of Lesser Covens
Baas'Dubh, the The Black Decay - Practitioners of dark magic, this Coven teaches its followers how to induce rot and withering upon all that lives - whether it be mortal or plant. They see Perisha and Shikaze as two sides of a single being they refer to as the singular "Mother of the End", a patron of power for them to whom they dedicate their dark prayers and despicable rituals.
Roosleigheas, the The Thorned Growth - Practitioners of healing magic, this Coven teaches its followers the means to heal the wounded and cleanse corruption while also cultivating the wilderness. They worship Rengrown, Prime God of Life, and see the Cervan as divine beings.
