Created by Unysta, Goddess of Dreams, the Dryads are keepers of dreams, playful yet elusive they can be found in almost every forest or jungle in Auria though they are most often found in the Gwynbrenon, living among the Elf and Wolfen societies. The Dryads were originally from a realm in the Afterworld, known as Somniva, however when Demons found a way to create a portal which could pierce the barrier between the physical world and the afterlife the Dryads, Wisps and the Wolfen were forced to fight against them, some pushing through the barrier into reality and stayed behind to make sure no one could threaten Somniva again. Since then, the Dryads and the Wolfen developed a small society among the Elves who coincidentally resided in the forests where the Demons' Gate of Dreams was. Together, the three races built a mighty city surrounding the Gate of Dreams to protect it from any more misuse, this city would be known as Nytlerei.

To this day the Dryads are protectors of the Gate of Dreams. Many Dryads have begun to travel the world, setting up secretive lairs in the forests to keep an eye on Demons trying to break through into Somniva, rarely do they show themselves to mortal eyes as they wish to remain a myth though many Dryads appear in front of slumbering lifeforms to make their trips to Somniva as safe and wonderful as possible. Those that live in Nytlerei choose not to hide themselves from mortal eyes.

Powers

Dryads are naturally adapt at a special type of Magic known as Dreamweaving, known only by them and some Elves who have begun to learn their ways. Dryads are also the first Druids of Auria and wield nature-based spells at their disposal with great extent. They have a natural connection to the wilds and are able to communicate telepathically to any living organism that they may see, even plant life, whispering to them in their mind to sooth them and help them grow and prosper. They primarily eat fruit and vegetables.

Dryads use their dreamweaving powers to make themselves invisible to the mortal eye so that they may travel the world unsighted and watch over the world uninterrupted. They are also known to help lifeforms dream better by guiding them deep into the Dream, sometimes doing it for playful and mischievous reasons as mortals take longer to wake up from deep slumbers caused by the Dryads. However sometimes Dryads do this to help Mortals who have pushed themselves too hard and radiate with a restless presence. Many cultures around the world recognize the Dryad as a mythical creature that visits people in their sleep to help them rest, causing sayings like "A Dryad must've visited you" to be used when one appears sleepy or tired.

Dryads reproduce in the form of seedlings that two Dryads may create by bonding. The seedling must be nurtured with water, soil and affection for an entire century before it may sprout a bud from which a Dryad faun may come from.

Physical Appearances and Behavior

Dryads take on the form of half-deer, half-Humanoids with long colourful hair and big, shining eyes that let them observe their surroundings. Their ears are large and fluffy like that of a cervid. Some Dryads also have horns sticking out their forehead. Their backsides are adorned with fluffy tufts that serve as their tails and some Dryads have glowing markings running over their fur.

Dryads can be joyful and free spirited, though also dedicated to their role of safekeeping nature and the Afterworld. Young Dryads tend to be curious of the real world while the older and wiser ones stay secluded from mortal eyes.
