Engineering
The craftsmanship of machinery and advanced weaponry, Engineering has been a part of Aurian history since a time recorded only by Dragons who credit themselves as the first true engineers of the galaxy through the fact that they created the magnificent city of Dragonhearth. Officially many mortals of Auria credit the Draken, the spawn of Dragons, as the actual first engineers as they have shown to be highly-efficient in the art whilst their Draconic overlords tend to lack in such experience. After the Draken few forms of engineering have made an appearance on every planet in Auria but the next big one would come through the wild Fenik of Gwynbrenon who, in their darkest hour, created a Skyship that could traverse the space between worlds and travel to Saberos where they only advanced their technological prowess through impressive craftsmanship and mechanical wonders unseen before.
Arcatech - Draken Engineering

Due to their duty of safeguarding the Dragons and their infinite knowledge as well as be their personal servants in any small matter, the Draken were quick to pick up on the art of creating machines and contraptions to make life easier for themselves. They found the mountains of Winterfury to be abundant in useful and versatile mineral they could use in their craft, among the minerals mined from the mountains Dragonite became a centrepiece in their work thanks to its high capability of conducting magic through its form. Experimenting with the dragons' magic, the Draken would develop an art they'd call "Arcatech", fusing scientific engineering with the arcane of the divine to create masterpieces. Through their work, the dragon city known as Dragonhearth would be risen up on seven pillars serving as magical conduits to bring power to the facilities of this expansive and towering settlement snuggly fit in the serrated mountains. In time they learned to also create highly-efficient Automatrons that can work with high levels of intelligence and prowess. These automatrons would largely become elite guards in Upper Dragonhearth though some also exist in the lower region. Other forms of Automatrons include the worker-class that help the Draken in menial activities.
Draken have also created an assortment of weaponry which are also powered by magic to be highly-efficient in combat. These include both energy-based melee weapons as well as an assortment of ranged guns and bows and melee weapons with blades made from pure ether.
Another material that the Draken utilize in their work is Synthetic Biotex, a type of synthetic material which they created through a process using dragonskin from willing donators and enhancing it with magic. Biotex is used in both the aforementioned Automatrons as well as different prosthetics to give them softer, more skin-like touches. It is used in a lot of Arcatech developed armour to give the wearer flexibility while not sacrificing defence.
The teachings of master engineers in the Draken branch are highly sought-after in the galaxy and only few exist who are willing to pass on these teachings. Those that do get lucky enough to learn from a master find that their teachings can mostly apply to the use of Dragonite and Biotex as well as a heavy dependency on magic.
Vex Theorem - Fenik Engineering
It is unknown how it is that a woodland race like the Fenik ever learned to tinker with metal and springs, yet as history has shown itself none among the common races is as ingenious and brilliant as them. Coined "Vex Theorem" by the early Fenik settlers of Saberos in memory of Vex Springtail, the inventor of the Skyships, this class of Engineering is considered the most versatile and accessible of the Engineering Branches, the Fenik have an affinity for utility which has led them to creating many common life contraptions including light bulbs, refrigeration units, vehicles and much much more. The works of Fenik Engineering can be seen in many cities in Saberos and outside as well with some cities in Imperia adopting their technology to build better and more comfortable homes.
All of this is not to say that Vex Theorem does not also develop weapons used for combat. Developed during a time when the Fenik were few, weak and beset by greater forces, they had to create weapons capable of dealing with their oppressors. Gunsmithing became its own art within Vex Theorem, which is studied in the Academy of Machine in Steamgear exclusively by those who wish to contribute to the defence of their homeland. Like with their machines, a lot of Vex Theorem weapons are powered by electricity.
Electricity is used as the fuel of Vex Theorem-based mechanicals, which is produced through Fenik-built generators like wind turbines, Hydroelectric dams and underground gas vents found in Saberos. Vex Theorem also utilises batteries to power remote machinery that is cut off from static generators.
"Using anything and everything to create something from nothing." - Vex Theorem builds upon the notion that anything can be a useful material in pursuit of creative craftsmanship, you simply have to know where to look and how to look at it.
Is-Iziba - Enkhulun Engineering
In a bygone time when the first Skyship rose to the sky, the Enkhulu were a tribal people who had just stepped into the world as warriors. Tasked with the defence of the galaxy, they would train under the blazing sun in the art of war. Primitive as a race could be, it astonishes modern researchers how the Enkhulu ever developed a branch of Engineering that competes with the others - Is-Iziba. Though not as flexible of versatile as the others, this branch focuses purely on demolition and siege. Historically, Is-Iziba was looked down upon and even banned as a practice throughout Urol for its destructive of the earth's goddess' lands, leading to the practicioners of Iz-Iziba to become outlaws that isolated themselves throughout Auria in secret facilities. Certain such facilities in Grukoor would be found by the Urol Empire and forced into working for their growing war machine to develop weapons useful against enemies of order, despite previous beliefs.
Iz-Iziba's centrepiece is the mineral known as coal, which is mined abundantly on every planet. Using coal alongside oil as fuel and stone for structure, Is-Iziba Engineers are able to build stone machines of war which are often large in size to intimidate enemies into a quick surrender. As they are focused on destruction, they have a mastery in the creation of bombs and fiery weapons like flamethrowers and greater forms of siege weaponry. Advanced Iz-Iziba techniques feature the ability to weave life into powerful stone golems ancient magical contraptions reminiscent of Arcatech.
Aerocraft - Avari Engineering
Ever since the first Skyship landed onto the planet known as Wyrmeron and allowed the Avari to make contact with people far away from their homeworld, many Avari craftsmen became enlightened and inspired to create machines capable of carrying people from point A to point B. By the year 672 their scholars and tinkerers managed to create their own version of a Skyship named the H1 Skytamer which, though it crashed shortly after, allowed their people to create improved versions in the form of model H2 and H3 which were set as the milestones for Avari engineering. Generation after generation, the inspiration of Aerocraft has led the Avari into becoming experts in air-based technology.
Since their first enlightenment, Avari have always had a keen sense in creating machines and though they would never be able to surpass the brilliance of the Draken's design or the efficiency of the Fenik's. They utilize wind and solar energy as their fuel-source, building one or the other on their large-scaled machines in order to power them while they're working. They use wood as a base material in their work, although the recent discovery of aluminium has had the Avari scholars rethinking their established traditions and evolving it to new heights.
Augmech Dollmaking - Fordun Engineering
Born from desperation for survival, Augmech is the name given to a unique form of tinkering that was birthed when a faction of survivors known as the Artificers began to create mechanical doll bodies to combat the corrosive earth of Voi'Runil. Sketched and planned by the brilliant minds of Gunther Ereben and Elizabeth Von Herstel, the process would ultimately save these wayward Luxfordians from an eternity of residing in the darkness as tormented souls. Using Arcatech to create a stave that can extract souls from the weak and frail, the scientists behind dollmaking would create a legion of metal people able to live as one with the land tainted by chaos. This branch of Engineering would not have a name other than "Dollmaking" until Arztor Augmech joined up with Elizabeth to develop his revolutionary Augmech Bodyparts, contraptions that a Fordun could attach onto their bodies to personalise their physical form and grant themselves new powers.
Augmech Dollmaking is a forsaken art of Engineering purely because it is often compared to necromancy. Using magic, one adapt at the art can draw out a soul and trap it one of these dolls so that they may live an eternal life. These mechanical bodies are built primarily out of Cosmobane Alloy, a metal specifically forged in Voi'Runil which has a natural resistance to demon influence, granting any contraption or person built out of this metal to have a higher resistance too. Augmech devices, including the bodies themselves, are fuelled with Energy Cells, battery-like devices that recharge when given time to cooldown and rest. Through Augmeching, a Fordun may also fuel their mechanical bodies through other methods, though these are rare and unique to each individual.
While the focal point of this branch is the dolls themselves, Augmech also comes with other weapons as well as quality of life devices the people of Ashbourne use to give themselves a life of luxury. Many draw lines from Arcatech and Vex Theorem when describing Augmech, as it is an engineering branch inspired by both.
Lesser Forms of Engineering
Vishaal Wargolems
The Vishaali of the empire of Mahaan Saamraj are capable of building giant wargolems known as Pahar Edaar. Similar to Arcatech, these golems are fuelled by magic.
Other Forms of Engineering
Architecture
Engineering at its core also includes architecture. Buildings like bridges and aqueducts could not be created without the knowledge of physics and engineering.
Siege Machinery
Engineering in lesser forms exists in most mortal species. In Bjorn, Luxfordia and Wylderin, the use of the siege weapons has been a long lasting tradition.
