By some accounts the name Ironwatch has existed for as long as Humanity has, earning its beginnings in the frozen wastes of Ischyros where the Ironwatch tribe were one of the strongest and most feared in the land, oft taking conquest of opposing tribes. None would match their strength until Warlord Vandrash rose to power and begun to unite the tribes of Ischyros under one banner, standing against the fearless Ironwatch on the fields of blood-bathed snow. Ultimately, the Ironwatch kneeled down to Vandrash who they recognized had the superior strength in leading their kind. Following the unity of the Human tribes, Luxfordia was founded.
Through the founding, destruction and refounding of Luxfordia, Ironwatch has existed as a fundamental part of the Kingdom and its history, from its foe to its closest asset. Since its tribal origins, Ironwatch has existed to represent might for Humanity.
Districts
Commercial: Located to the west of the city center, Viadei Gold is a street dedicated to commercial business as well as hosting the city's greatest and only tavern, the Murderous Crow. This part of the city is crowded by tradesmen desperately peddling their goods to any passerby to combat the merciless taxes pushed onto them by their governors. Those incapable of making a living in the Viadei Gold are destined to a life in the Royal Armeria as labourers. The Viadei Gold is also home to a lot of shady black markets under the radar of the Ironwatch police, though being discovered a fraud in Ironwatch almost always equals a death by execution.
Governmental: Sitting at the north end of the city is the Iron Bastion, a raised chunk of land surrounded by a moat that houses the Manor Grounds for the Duke of Ironwatch. As it is well defended from all sides, it comes to reason to believe that the district is highly unwelcoming of commoners, allowing only entry through approved invites by the Duke himself. Governmental affairs for the commoners of Ironwatch are instead expected to be processed in the Royal Armeria instead.
Harbour: Ironwatch's Harbour, the Warport, is solely used to create and house the navy of Ironwatch. Not as great as the harbour of Hawkport of Nordstrom, the Warport is a restricted area used for naval exercises every day of the week. The Immortal Warrior is a statue standing at the southern end of the harbour depicting the figure of King Wylliam Victoria holding a torch that burns bright, functioning as a lighthouse.
Industrial: The Royal Armeria is situated adjacent to the Warport and is depicted as a sprawling black steel fortress where the engines of labour run day and night to produce an armory for the soldiers of Ironwatch. It houses the Halls of Champions, a museum dedicates to the legends of past Ironwatch figures of worth and valor, forever giving remembrance to them through monuments depicting their characters. Citizens of Ironwatch commonly work in the Royal Armeria to earn a living that keeps them afloat against the crushing taxes that tug at their wallets at all times.
The Royal Armeria also contains the Halls of Judgement, a prison complex and execution grounds.
Magical: In Ironwatch culture, Magic is strictly forbidden. To wield magic in Ironwatch is to seal your own fate and the governing power of Ironwatch enforces this through the use of The Negativo, the gatetown of Ironwatch. As the only entry-way into the city, the Negativo is heavily guarded at all times with armored soldiers and Spellbreakers, the latter of which are tasked with interrogating any who step inside the city to find out their purposes of visit as well as to understand if they wield Magic. Those discovered to be Magi are made to wear Anti-Magic bracelets during their visit into the city and can only remove them once they leave it. The Negativo houses the Domitor Discibory which is the primary structure in Luxfordia to train the Anti-Magic wielding Spellbreakers who are most concentrated in Ironwatch city.
Military: The Crimson Enclave is found at the heart of the city proper and it serves as the house of Ironwatch military power. Here the soldiers live and train for the purposes of battle. The menacing Tower of Zeut sits at the center of the enclave, named after a past Duke of Ironwatch Zeutor Fissar, the top's tip is adorned in a glowing red gem that resembles an eye that watches over the citizens of Ironwatch without cease. The tower's function is as a watch tower, allowing for an vantage point at all angles when necessary and the powerful ballistae built into the tower can shoot down anyone, whether they be on the ground or in the air. The Zeutarian Offices, located at the base of the Tower of Zeut, is the government building used by the Legati to conduct their business.
Recreational: Just north-west of the Crimson Enclave is the Victoria Colosseum, a great Arena spanning the size of an large district. Serving as the city's primary form of financial import, the Colosseum houses gladiators and monsters captured by the Ironwatch from across the galaxy to fight to the death constantly for the entertainment of the people. Tickets are sold at a price of 100-300 Gex, based on the seat, and each show of blood is guaranteed to be brutal and exciting. For its popularity and attraction, many have made a life for themselves in Ironwatch to be gladiators themselves, selling themselves away to live a luxurious and high-risk life in the arena where the champion is given a home equal to that of a King.
Religious: In ancient times when the city of Ironwatch was first built, the people that inhabited it were devoted to a sect of Gods including Perisha, Fenros, Geomi-Sin and Shikaze. They would take the Ashen Flatland as the grounds upon which to found their new city and at the north-east of it they deemed the land sacred, allowing only the building of divine monuments in shape of the Gods there. Overtime, as the city became more industrialized, the shrines were encased in a temple-like structure walled off from sunlight, leaving them encased in metal walls where their followers could prey in the shadows. Entering into the year 2435 when Andrev Greymoore II was crowned High King, a ban was established on all superstition kingdom-wide. Ironwatch was the first to accept this reform, closing the Black Shrines without question and leaving the monuments of the Gods within to rot in decay.
Following the Grand War in the year 3003, Queen Regindra Fedelerin made Magic commonplace in Luxfordia once more. Though Ironwatch was not so keen on following the leadership of an Asvar queen, the reemergence of superstition across Azura also inspired the Shadowsong Accordance, a political reform in Ironwatch that allowed the reopening of the Black Shrines to allow the people worship the Gods they've given Faith to since time immemorial.
Residential: Named after the infamous royal family, the Greymoore Slums span the southern width of the city to house the majority of the common people. The state of the district is below desirability as it prioritizes function over form, housing the people in claustrophobic settings.
