Lifespan
The many and diverse mortal races of Auria carry with them widely differing lifespans, where in developmental stages happen at different ages for different races.
The four common stages of development are known as Childhood, Maturity, Adulthood and Elderly.
Childhood is the first stage of life and it is commonly the stage where a person requires nurturing and care from an adult caretaker.
Maturity is a transitional stage that brings with it a sudden change to one's body to prepare them for adulthood. In many, Maturity begins when a person is still considered a child however there are other cultures where becoming Mature and becoming an Adult are one and the same. The beginning of Maturity also entails the ability to reproduce, however many Aurian cultures look down on the process until the stage of Adulthood.
Adulthood is considered the end of the Maturity phase of life, often marking a person as ready for independence. Reaching Adulthood entails that the person's body has fully developed and that they no longer need to be under the protection of someone else.
Elderly is the final stage of life and is often considered the age of wisdom. Though the person's body begins to weaken in this stage, the experiences they have received in life has made them knowledgeable and revered by the youth.
Hybrids inherit a mixed lifespan of the two races they come from.

!1: The stage of childhood in a Dryad's life is spent in a seedling for a century. When they emerge, they are considered mature.
!2: The Khwezi Seers of the Enkhulu are blessed with extended lifespans.
!3: As they are mechanical, Fordun do not age or reproduce. The creation of new Fordun are handled by a ritual known as "the Joined Emptiness", where a doll-body is built by the Artificers and a lost soul is pulled into it by the scarred Vampires.
!4: The lifespan of the Moenreyn is an unsolved mystery. Those that have come into contact with them have said that they do not age.
!5: Trolls begin their maturation process close to their birth, becoming adults by the age of 10. However their society further categories people by age milestones which take place every ten years after reaching adulthood, naming these the Xa'at. A Troll that is 40 years old is 4 Xa'at, a Troll that is 128 years old is 12 Xa'at.
