Luxfordian Humans

Background

The great Luxfordian kingdom is one of the largest and strongest factions in Auria. Created close to 3000 years ago by a Human warlord named Vandrash Aspectum Luxford who believed that uniting all Humans in Imperia would allow them to take control of the whole continent and found an unstoppable empire that could one day unify the entirety of Auria under one banner. His ambitions would lead him to being the first Human King in existence and under his leadership his kin would quickly sweep over the land breaking those that stood in their way and making allies with those that knelt and served them without hesitation. The first of their allies being the Dwarves, who had made partnerships with Humans for ages prior, trading weaponry and fighting together in numerous battles.

Another ally that the Humans of Luxfordia could quickly take hold of were the Asvars, half-breeds who were born from the Humans breeding with Elves passing through the lands and falling victim to the sheer force and numbers, being given the ultimatum of either submitting or dying. These Asvars would quickly be turned into low-life servants that the Humans took great pleasure in exploiting.

In the year 1000, an Asvar named Deldarach Hawktalon, gathered a group of like-minded Asvars and journeyed north to Wyrmeron in search of a possible tool that could help liberate the Asvars from the Humans, keeping this campaign of theirs a secret to their Human overseers. They would eventually gain hold over the possibility of magic which they would take back to Imperia and use to force the Humans to hold back their offense and servitude. Though Deldarach's plan worked and he was given brief leadership over the Asvars in the Asvarian city of Etherin, Magic would soon after become more widespread and the Humans would also begin to practice a different type of magic that focused entirely of shutting down other spellcasters. A war between the Humans and Asvars would break out again and once more the Asvars would be placed back into a servant position in the kingdom.

When the young emperor Yvain Greymoore begun a great war attempting to take over all of Auria, many other races stood up against them that lead to the Human kingdom of Luxfordia being dismantled and decimated, the majority of Humans killed and their settlements sacked. Though the Elves had a chance to completely eliminate them, it was the Asvars that ultimately defended the last remaining Humans and instead chose to take Luxfordia for themselves, sparing the Humans from execution if they submitted to the rule of the Asvars.

After the Great Fall, The Asvars would quickly establish themselves as worthy leaders of the kingdom and Luxfordia would swiftly become an open kingdom for any who followed the ways of order, overtime growing to its former self and creating many opportunities in the sprawling city of Luxford. Unfortunately, those who seek to overthrow the Asvars and establish the Humans as the true leaders of the kingdom still exist and actively seek to throw the faction into a civil war.

Religion and Culture

Luxfordian's use a dialect of Aurian known as Luxfordian.

The Luxfordian Humans, and by extension the Asvars, are a people of faith and pride. Among their ranks, the teachings of the Church of Divinity rules over all other beliefs to the brink that three quarters of Luxfordians are devoted Divinitists. Though by the laws of the Church, good will and a helpful spirit are the core fundamentals of a Divinitist, for centuries now many have practice their faith in a twisted and exclusive manner breeding zealotry and bigotry. Most who practice this type of Divinitism follow the teachings of the Righteous Flame, a mirror faith to the Church of Divinity.

Luxfordian culture is often described a wildcard among the cultures of Auria - Little beside a history of warmongering and a versatile spirit have truly been noted down throughout the course of history. A firm understanding of architecture is, however, notable among the Luxfordians as their buildings are among the best of the galaxy.

Since its inception, Magic has been a force that Luxfordian Humans have dared not mingle with, seeing it more as forbidden powers reserved for the Gods and any who practice it are deemed to a life in hell. Despite this, Etherin's doors remained open in fear of what the Asvars could wield against the throne should a rebellion of high stakes take place forcing the Humans to also adapt and learn, eventually practicing their own form of Magic to counter and fight against other Magic users dubbed simply as Anti-Magic.

After Queen Regindra Fedelerin took up the crown and reformed Luxfordia, Magic has become more wildly practice in the empire yet those that live by the old ways still believe it as a damnable force.

Society and its Structure

Luxfordia is ruled over a King or Queen at all times and through them, the people of Luxfordia are led under a monarchy. If the Monarch is a King, their spouse may be either a Prince or a Queen, whilst if the Monarch is a Queen, their spouse may be either a Prince or a Princess.

Answering directly to the King or Queen is the House of Dukes, a council consisting of the seven Dukes of Luxfordia each corresponding to a major settlement in the kingdom. These seven Dukes each watch over their respective town or city and are given equal presence in the round table of the ruling Monarch.

Prior to King Yvain's loss of the throne and his own life, Luxfordia was divided in civil conflict - The purebred Humans were marked as highborn whilst other races, Hybrids and Asvars were all treated as little more than slaves or mongrels to the Monarchy, the only exception ever being the people of Etherin who prided in their inclusivity even during a time of great prejudice.

After the reform which unified their people, Luxfordia has become a haven for many races to mingle, yet there remain those that still push for the old ways and treat other races as lesser kind compared to the Humans. This exists most prominently in Ironwatch, where its citizens are thriving on a production and military heavy culture which takes little liking to non-Humans.
