In ages past the founders of the Etherin estate would lead an Asvarian uprising throughout the kingdom of Luxfordia which would lead to many small-scale battles taking place in Azura. One of the biggest of those battles would happen at the Battaglia River where Deldarach's magi battled it out with the fierce Darksorrow estate for three continuous weeks where both sides would lose many soldiers to the other. The riots would end on a peaceful note when King Louis Marcus Lionheart granted the Asvars a recognised place in the kingdom yet a permanent rift was torn between Etherin and Darksorrow that made coexisting difficult.
Centuries of mistrust would divide the two neighbouring estates, causing bickering and hatred to boil between them. A reformation of Darksorrow would occur in 1458, nearly five centuries after the battle at Battaglia River, where the estate won over the favour of Dragonlord Venorion and was given new life in a booming relationship with Dragonkind. In order to appear more closely with their scaled allies, Tharus of Darksorrow put aside his pride and travelled to Etherin to meet with Duke Cano Elfire and sow an end to the anger between their two nations so that Darksorrow may be granted a greater understanding in the magical arts. Though he was wary of the Humans' motivations, Cano would hear him out and understand his desire for peace so a pact was sealed between the two estates - Darksorrow would send their finest warriors to Etherin to defend against the rampant uprising of monsters in their land; Etherin shall train the wisest of Darksorrow in the ways of the arcane.
A century would go by before the treaty would show any long-lasting effects - monsterkind had taken a plunge in numbers around the academic city and Darksorrow had become the second most magically-affiliated Luxfordian estate. To commemorate the pact between Cano and Tharus a town would be built on the ruins of the battlefield that first sew hatred between their two estates - Onyxfield, a settlement that was not owned by one single estate but by both at the same time.
Districts
Commercial: Westriver Nightwalk is located west of Battaglia River and is the home of Onyxfield's cultural scene. When the town was built this district served primarily as residential but over time newer generations transformed it into a booming travel destination with an exotic and wild nightlife. Due to its proximity to the Meesin motherhive, dancers and couturiers from honeyridge commonly visit the Nightwalk to offer their entertainment and services to the locals. The riverside of the Nightwalk features residential homes for permanent citizens. One famous tavern here is Four-Ever and Ever, ran by the half-Enkhulu Uthana who is known for her sultry disposition.
Governmental: Separating the East from the West is a man-made stone island plaza known as Dragon's Landing. Eastern Cano Bridge and Western Tharus bridge connect it to to the two sides of the town. The plaza features a brilliant fountain depicting the two men who helped found the city with their pact as well as a visage of great Dragonlord Venorion looming over them. A town hall is present here too as well.
Magical: Eastriver Schoolgrounds is located east of Battaglai River and is the home of Onyxfield's educational scene. The Schoolgrounds is an extension of Etherin Academy that is dedicated to in-the-field research and arcanic lessons including being the go-to place for magic duels for students. Furthermore the influence of Venorion has helped build a great museum dedicated to the history and culture of Dragons in the schoolgrounds - the "Mortal Archives of Dragons".
