Ancient scriptures long before the start of the Era of Unity record a race of shark-like bipedal creatures who originated from Wyrmeron known as the Shargaz. Having gone practically extinct before the other kingdoms could even form, little is known of them other than that traces of their civilization can be found on every planet in Auria which leads to a mystery chroniclers have researched for as long as three thousand years: How were they able to travel off-planet long before the first Skyship was created?

The Shargaz used to live in a temple city in Everfrost known as Gal-Ur Eltas who's ruins are found littering the frozen wasteland to this day. Through excavations and research it has been found that they lived sophisticated lives that involved a great amount of scientific research and a strong belief in the Gods thanks to the unearthed libraries and monasteries found beneath the snow. They were a warrior race, capable of quickly conquering the continent and defeating any other race found on it at that time and banishing them from their land and slaying those that refused to comply. Ancient machinery have been found in the ruins of their many plentiful settlements all across Auria that indicate they were the able to make their own iteration of a Skyship many centuries prior to the Fenik inventing theirs and using it to traverse the galaxy freely and conquer land during a time when all other races were still reduced to barbaric tribes and clans that fought with sword and shield. Old literature in Senkh and Troll scriptures tell of an "alien species" that came to their lands with conquest in mind, their weapons otherworldy.

Unfortunately the Shargaz have long vanished from existence long before the kingdoms established themselves across Auria with only their ruins both overground and underground and a very few amount of their numbers left to show as proof of their reality. The truth of how their people fell from such a high pedestal have since been theorized upon - some say it is the Dragons themselves that culled their numbers too harshly for evolving too fast, others say the underground Primex were able to overwhelm and slaughter their kind which is backed by a lot of their ruins now laying underneath the crust of the planets. Others believe that the Shargaz were too bold in their desire for expansion and spread their numbers too thinly to truly sustain themselves.

In recent history, a handful of their kind have appeared in the society of other races, though these modern Shargaz are still clouded in a layer of mystery left unsolved by their own hand. The Hayka are said to come from Shargaz that long ago settled on Saberos.

Religion and Culture

In their prime, the Shargaz worshiped a great many Aurian Gods within their churches and monasteries, practicing regular prayers at their holy sites. Research findings have noted that the six Prime Gods are what the Shargaz worshiped the most, having carved idols out of them to display on their altars.

Alongside their great deal of Faith to give, the Shargaz were also highly intelligent and capable of making machinery that rivaled Draconic creatures. In fact it is believed that they gained an inspiration from the Dragons themselves to engineer such creations so early on in history with some suggesting that it was the Dragons themselves that aided in their advancements.

Lastly the Shargaz had a militant culture that came hand in hand with their faith and their innovations. They are said to have set their youth early into combat training to make fierce soldiers out of them while their empire launched crusades all across Wyrmeron and beyond to spread the word of the Prime Gods to other not-so developed nations.

Society and its Structure

The entirety of the Shargaz Empire was led by a Sarrum, a king in their vocabulary. He was honoured as a "lord above lords" in their texts and is said to be "the closest man to the Gods" and "the voice of the Gods".

Both men and women of their empire were treated as potential warriors and were forced to fight for their Sarrum's will. Those respected enough were welcomed to their academies where they could learn basic principals and even become machinists for their empire that could live more luxurious lives.

Physical Appearences

Shargaz were and still are bi-pedal humanoid creatures with shark-like features including a twelve-toothed wedge-shaped snout, long ears and a prehensile tail. They are fully covered in fur as opposed to skin like the Hayka, who are closest in appearance to the Shargaz.

Shargaz males and females were largely similar as both genders were made to fight in their wars, though women have much more pronounced hips.
