Skyship
A Skyship is a vessel capable of taking flight off of a planet and sail across the empty space between planets to land onto other planets within the Aurian Galaxy.
History
The first ever Skyships were invented by the Fenik in the year 528 to escape Gwynbrenon planet and crash land on Saberos. These vessels were small, the hull made out of tough wood and reinforced with metal with the engine powered by a powerful elemental heart stolen by the sly fox people from the Trolls. Nearly 60% of the Fenik population died in the process of flying this newly-made invention but the remaining 40% would assure that their race would not die out and instead continue to develop their literally sky shattering invention. The main creator of the Skyship, Master Vex Springtail was able to survive this crash and continued to innovate new models for their Skyships, going down in history as one of the greatest Fenik inventors. The first Skyship is known as the Model A1 but Vex had a more personal name for it, calling her The Nova Voltex.
Since then, the Fenik continued to work on their Skyships making dozens of different models, some failures and some successes. In the year 640 Fenik technology began to allow longer trips across the entirety of the Galaxy which allowed the Fox people to visit each and every planet besides the darkened Voi'Runil, which was blocked by a cloud of dark mist. The most successful vessel was dubbed the F4 around that time, making a legendary voyage from each planet which established the idea of the Skyships to other races.
In the year 672 Avari scholars and gadgeteers developed their own version of the Skyship nowadays recognized as Model H1 hoping to use it to explore the worlds past Wyrmeron. It had a successful start but would struggle to make a trip to any planet forcing the pilots to return to Wyrmeron, making a crash landing that destroyed the vessel in the process. Over the next decade they would iterate on the H1 Model to create H2 and H3 which, with the attention to the cycles of the planets allowed the Avari to make trips to Imperia and Serena.
Shortly after the visit from the Avari, the Humans began work on building their own Skyships with the instructions of the pilots that visited them. In the year 712 the first Human Skyship took off from Imperia and towards Saberos and Gwynbrenon, allowing the Humans to make contact with the Elves and establish trade routes with the Fenik. This Skyship would nowadays be known as the Model I5.
In the year 755 the Fenik began to grow large as a kingdom thanks to their trades with the Humans. Wanting to push further with this opportunity, the Fenik established a Galaxy-wide network where they offered cheap transport between planets using their newest Skyship models, the K8. They would build tall Skyship Docks called Skyports in almost every capital in the Aurian Galaxy that served as ports for their ships, intergalactic travel began a norm for many adventurers, traders and politicians though the average civilian would still struggle to pay for a trip.
Uninterested in only controlling the seas in Saberos, some notorious pirate Hayka in the year 777 sought to contest the Fenik Skyships by stealing some of them and repurposing them for galactic pirating. To counteract this, the Fenik in the year 780 made it common for most of their Skyships to now also carry cannons to fight back against any possible pirate attack.
In the year 875 Skyships built for war began to surface in many of the kingdoms of Auria, used to try and invade other planets by carrying large guns and enough space for a small army. These Skyships would be developed independant from the Fenik as they rarely cared for warfare, believing it to be bad for a healthy economy.
In the year 1025, when Magic began to spread outside of Imperia and onto other planets, the Fenik discovered a powerful use for it in the form of making engines powered by the use of Magic that helped push their innovation past what was previously established. They would begin work on new Skyships powered by magic furnances and their first model, the MA1, was an immediate success in the galaxy. In the years to come, magic-powered Skyships made by Fenik would begin to surface more and more and by the year 1220 nearly all of the galaxy's Skyships became powered by magic. Antique Skyships still powered by older furnaces would be placed on auctions worldwide with rich traders and businessmen buying them out for their collections.
In the year 2450 many individuals called for their own personal Skyships to be made. This led to a booming business where the rich were able to commission their own Skyships from different vesselmakers and, with a hired licensed pilot or even be licensed themselves, be able to travel from planet to planet without using the public transport.
In the year 2523, Public Skyship tickets would quickly drop in price and become available to poorer people, truly opening up the galaxy to the entire world.
In the year 3000, when King Yvain Greymoore launched a full-on galactic war in hopes of uniting all planets under one banner, the Fenik public transports docked in Luxfordia were taken over by the military and forced to carry the armies of New Luxford onto other planets. When the fight in Serena became unwinnable for the Humans, Yvain led a small part of his army onto Saberos to take it over, completely shutting down intergalactic travel across Auria while employing additional Skyships and other siege weaponry into his army.
When the war came to an end, the Skyships in the army were returned to the Fenik and though they were hesitant on opening up travel to other planets, they ended up doing so in the end with a heightened price for all Kingdoms.
Nowadays the most popular public Skyship model is the MZ12 while Battle Skyships range in models based on individual kingdoms.
