Background

40 years ago, the Livanin Desert was peacefully split between three equal forces: The Senkh, the Sark and the Humans. Suddenly, one day the Senkh were no longer content with sharing the land with anyone else and they waged a war with the other two forces and ultimately came out on the top due to their numbers and powers. Though the Sark returned to their jungle in Grukoor, the Humans had to flee through the Farside Canyons that made up the northern region of Livanin, a harsh region where many dangerous beasts and monsters reside waiting to attack. As unluck would have it, the Humans who survived the war were cut down even more by the vicious beings that lived in the canyon, the only person who survived the trip back to Luxfordia being a young woman named Sheela, bruised and malnourished she would have died would it not been for a group of Shrevir that helped her reach the Azura Province.

After being taken into the care of another, more elderly woman so that she could recover, the young Sheela begun to dwell upon the nightmarish battle that took place in her desert hometown, now in ruins. She saw her family struck down by the Senkh and buildings collapsing right and left, the snake people showing mercy only when the innocent villagers remained. "Why would they do such a cruel act? We did nothing wrong!" She spoke out loudly at her caretaker, the lovely Caroline who was heartbroken to hear of another war which the Humans had to take place in.

25 years later, When the Human empire now ruled by King Yvain Greymoore launched a full-on war with the rest of the world, Sheela joined the war effort that pushed into Livanin, fighting alongside other men and women who wished to take the desert back. They struck through the Farside Canyons and attempted to conquer the Senkh Empire only to be blocked off by divine intervention. Though they failed to take the desert for now, the High Commander knew not to leave the land unguarded and to assure that the desert is kept a watchful eye over, he left a hundred soldiers in Livanin to inhabit Dawn's Edge at the northern end of the desert which would act as a gate for any who wish to enter or exit the wastelands, requiring one to pass through the town. Sheela, having proven her worth in battle, was left in charge of the town and she promised to her king that the Sunstalkers will forever keep her oath to him no matter what.

When the great war ended, many of the desertfolk were left feeling confused on what to do. Not all of them sided fully with their king and fought simply out of desperation and now that the tyrant was slain, they saw no reason to stay and watch over the desert. Frustrated by this turn of events, Sheela ordered any disloyal to her command to leave the town, caring not how they reach civilization, losing roughly half her forces in the process. She begun to fear for the worst in these times and could only trust those closest to her, her womanly friends who had acted like a council for her for the past years with Caelina Duze, her partner for life, at the forefront of it all. It is why she not only had the disloyal leave but also all men, believing that if the Sunstalkers were to succeed in their task, they would have to work and think as alike as possible.

And so it was that a pure matriarchy was borne among the Sunstakers, no man would be allowed to be part of their fighting force and the ideals of the only man they trusted, the fallen king, remained strong among them for years. Sheela has recently promoted a new, younger woman to take up leadership over their faction, the warrior champion known as S'andera.

Culture

The Sunstalkers are an all-female organization that wishes to conquer a part of the desert one day much like it used to be centuries ago, still having conflicts with the Senkh that can occasionally result in minor bloodshed. However their focus has more drifted towards controlling the flow of people that go in and out of the desert, requiring large sums of money to import and export goods to and from the Livanin wastelands. Over the years, the Sunstalkers have amassed a number of women that wish to join the effort of reclaiming a part of the desert though they have yet to resort to outright attacks. The Senkh Empire have tried to make deals with the Sunstalkers to keep them at bay and prevent another great conflict in the desert though their bond is fragile.

Sunstalkers lean towards thievery and cheap tactics to overthrow their enemies should combat arise with them. They do not follow rules and often play dirty just to get what they want. They do, however, share a love for exploring as well, some of the Sunstalkers starting to explore the desert to learn more about its history though often running into the deadly Nubin.
