Wolf

From Legacy of Auria
Jump to navigationJump to search

Known commonly as the kings and queens of the animal kingdom, the Aurian Wolf is a noble beast that is found on most planets within the Galaxy. Wolves have earned their title for being more intelligent than most other beasts found in the wilderness, forming organized packs to better secure their survival where social ranks are placed upon each individual. They have been spotted caring for their weak and elderly by foraging herbs they know to help heal wounds, recognize family bonds and even practice basic levels of recreation.

Much of mankind has recognized the nobility of the Wolf and have, throughout history, taken the Wolf as an animal companion. As companions or pets, Wolves are loyal, easily trained and sustainable so long as their master has proven to be respectful and caring. Those that fail to forge a bond with their Wolf or even Wolves find that the beast will start to rebel fast and a power struggle begins to form between mortal and animal. They are often trained to be guards or for labour.

Most adult Wolves are around 200-300cm in length, with female Wolves tending to be smaller.

Wolf Species

As one of the most varied beasts in Auria, Wolves have largely different appearances based on the Planet they inhabit and the climate they live in.

Black Amulius
Rank: ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆
Planet: Imperia
Region: Agrimar
Mostly black with glowing eyes, the Black Amulius Wolves inhabit the dark forests of Agrimar. They are generally more hostile and much bigger and stronger than the Collitoline who they often compete with for territory but they are also less intelligent than them.

Ceirine
Rank: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆
Planet: Gwynbrenon
Region: Emberos
Inhabiting the volcanic Emberos region, the Ceirine Wolves are massive with unique fiery red fur and glowing eyes. They are dangerously hostile when threatened and use their larger fangs to rip and tear through challengers. Unique to the Ceirine Wolves is an elemental infusion that grants them a resistance to fire and heat as well as cause the fur of older Ceirines to burn without damaging the body.

Collitoline
Rank: ★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Planet: Imperia
Region: Agrimar
Recognized by their black and brown fur pattern, the Collitoline is a common Wolf that inhabits northern Imperia, mainly hilly regions. They have gained their name for being notorious hunters of sheep in the past as well as excellent herders of sheep when trained properly. They are medium-sized and versatile, being relatively strong, resilient and fast whilst also obedient and intelligent.

Grey Cuall
Rank: ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Planet: Gwynbrenon
Region: Suprenus; Cazlak'Muk
Found in eastern Tranquilon and northern Blackwood, the Grey Cuall is a gray-furred Wolf that is more prone to using ambush-techniques rather than direct combat.

Lycar
Rank: ★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Planet: Wyrmeron
Region: Frostfire Isles
An ancient Urson fairytale tells of an exiled Winterfang Wolf and an injured Umbra joining together against a Demonic incursion. They fight off the defilers and fell deeply in love, leading to the two beasts to mate. It is why their children, the Lycar, possess both feline and canine traits. From their more pronounced jaws, their sharp claws down to their skeletal structure, Lycar are feline-canine hybrids that fit into either category. They are pack animals that live together within large dens in clearings, usually close to flowing water, using an hierarchal societal system with an Alpha Male and Alpha Female at the top. They are noble creatures that possess greater intelligence and are relatively peaceful when approached by well-meaning strangers.

Okami
Rank: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆
Planet: Serena
Region: Himalya
Known for their glistening white fur and nocturnal lifestyle, the Okami Wolves are elusive predators that rarely form packs and prefer to live as lone wolves. Many Naga folklore tell stories of mysterious ghostly Wolves that hunt at night, warning Mortals to not stray away from the light else they be eaten. Though early interpretations depicted the Okami as being malevolent, later understandings began to see these white Wolves with respect and even reverence, as there have been cases of innocent souls lost in the dead of night returning home upon the back of a kind Okami.

Storulv
Rank: ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆
Planet: Wyrmeron
Region: Desolate Towers (Western Storulv); Shiveer (Eastern Storulv)
Known for their light-blue and white fur coats, Storulv Wolves live in various regions in Wyrmeron, making dens in the Desolate Towers and the surrounding mountains as well as in the fields and forests of Shiveer. Western Storulvs are notably tougher and accustomed to the harsh environment. They often get into fights with the Umbras. Eastern Storulv, whilst not as big and fierce as their western counterpart, are still formidable in direct combat.

Tharafen
Rank: ★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Planet: Gwynbrenon
Region: Saren, Medenaris, Suprenus
A common Wolf found in Tranquilon, the Tharafen Wolf's fur is deep brown. They are generally docile and can even be approached by mortals without turning aggressive. They are well respected by the Wylderin and are often found wandering their settlements alongside other animals. Tharafens are omnivores and only hunt as a last resort. They are believed to be the children of the Wolf God Fenros himself.

Rank: ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Planet: Grukoor
Region: Desolate Drifts
