The Falling Star

During this night many stars were seen on the sky, bright as always. However what was different this time was one of them moving and seemingly enlarging. At first I put this thought as me being tired after recent exploration, yet as I sat by the moon-lighted table and looked through the window for longer period of time I started doubting it was the case. With hesitation I stood up and glued my face to the cold glass as the star continued to fall and get bigger, even if insignificantly as it headed towards north-east mountains of Dragonhearth.

I stood in curiosity and watched as it enlarged further till it crashed into one of many peaks, instantly having its light shut down and presence hidden. Something like this happened for the first time in my fairly short life and I knew I had to get closer and see it. Quietly I opened the window and climbed onto the roof of the inn in few quick moves. On the roof I noticed that the whole down was silent, everyone coalesced in their dreams and horrors as not a single soul was walking down the roads. It was sort of relieving as I could sprout my wings and fly towards the crash site. I felt I was lucky at this given moment as Sighteye Rise, I was resting at, was close and the travel wouldn't take too long before arriving to the star to sate my curiosity.

Still in the dark, accompanied by the moons and cold wind, I landed close to the spot to see for myself such an unusual event. With careful steps in dense layer of snow I headed towards the edge of a crater that formed and then looked around. The edges of it were glowing in faint ocean-blue with sides being dry and black while the center of it pulsed in deep blue color. Looking into the middle of the crash was at the same exciting and soothing and with little hesitation I slid down the side, trying to get closer. Most likely this move will be the most damning for me as to this day I regret it.

As I slid down, having some of smaller rocks roll along with me, I must've disturbed the being that was laying on the ground. I was barely able to get its figure seen by my eyes as the light was barely dim enough to be able to look through it and once I got to such distance the being seemed disturbed and panicked as it instantly stood up and faced me. In the excitement I was looking up and down, trying to remember the moment yet it felt like barely a second passed before the celestial being regained its composure and consciousness. What followed next was less than satisfying as it started turned around and ran up the edge, nearly instantly reaching the rim of the crater before disappearing from sight. I instantly flapped with my wings to get into the air yet there was glowing dust left with no footprints nor the celestial being. As for the crater only a faint glow in the middle remained that was much more similar to the edges now.

I spent few hours looking around the crater and the mountain to try and find anything of use yet there were only rocks, snow and disappointment combined with frustration. Resigned I resumed my flight to Sighteye Rise before sun greeted us as I had many of my belongings left here and couldn't abandon them. A feminine Draken in posture yet completely different, a big golden adornment on its head, golden armguards and hair that glowed in light purple, maybe even pink. I still can't believe that I just had a brief moment to enjoy my finding before losing it from my sight. I returned for the next few days near the crash location and with each day more snow covered the hole till it was completely even with the rest of the ground. No sign of the unusual being but I have to find it one day. The soothing presence of it was something out of this world and I need more of it. I need to learn more about it and its origin. I'll call it a Fleeting Star for now till I learn its true name. May Dragon Queen help with my luck and keep my curiosity endless.
