Night of the Blood Moon
"...The rampage lasted for nearly two week, devastating all mortal races across the continent that had no idea what has happened and why they were suddenly hunted. We, humans, were extremely close to being wiped out as we were pushed out towards Heirdorm and our ships were burned down by the dragons, trapping us on the island. That lead to many desperate prayers, cries and panic across us all as we stood no chance in defending.
However as dragons neared to the town, the big ones flying in the sky to bombard it with fire, while the younglings were assaulting from the ground, a dark barrier encapsulated the whole town. We were confused to say the least, the lack of control of this whole situation made many of us feel powerless and hopeless, while some were shouting into the sky that they won't let themselves be killed like a cattle. Many of our emotions were extreme at the moment as death was looming above our heads.
The fireballs were falling from the sky as dragons assaulted us yet they bounced back or straight up disappeared when the barrier was touched. My eyes were in awe at this, unable to comprehend what was happening and why. However, soon I got my answer as a beam shot down from the moon right in front of the city gates. It blinded us all but only for a short moment before disappearing completely. In place of the beam stood two beings, one tall and pale as snow around us and the other more like us with skin more alive and on average height of ours. However they both wore fur and had horns poking out of their skulls. Their faces were calm and soothing. It felt as if their glowing blue eyes pierced into my soul in an instant and embraced it in warmth. At that moment I assumed it was the end, that death just came to claim us all and give a peaceful walk to the other side.
However as much as I thought it was the case I felt a sensation in the back of my head that it wasn't my time, nor anyone's around. It only added to my confusion till I saw these otherworldly beings drawing circles on the snow with their bows. Each movement was fluid and precise. Each movement left a red glowing trail that only intensified the longer they went at it. All of our eyes were on them, their bodies, completely forgetting about the dragons that tried to assault us. Soon the glowing stopped and with that the barrier that enveloped Heirdorm extended while moon turned red, unsure whether it was due to barrier or it truly was red like our blood.
The dragons that were flying escaped out of its reach yet the ones that were young or unable to fly were enveloped by it. In matter of seconds the ones that got caught under the barrier got changed, their bodies shifting to completely different appearance where green dominated along their scales and looked much more docile. Moon Dragons was a name that ringed in my mind for reasons unknown yet it felt as if I had knew that name for my whole life.
"It is over." Rung in the back of my head as the threats ceased to exist, only faraway dots floating in the sky were seen but even they slowly disappeared, leaving us and our saviors alone. I fell on my knees in awe, the snow being cold and harsh yet I felt it was nothing compared to the relief I just felt. It felt surreal, as if it was some kind of cruel joke. However it wasn't one as our saviors looked at us dumbfounded, as if what they did was something natural.
"Stand up, you're safe." A warm motherly voice in the back of my head said. The blue-eyed figures stood in front of us from a fair distance, a wide childish smile forming on one while the other's lips curled lightly up, as if it wasn't sure whether that was a right thing to show. All I knew at the moment was that the dangers were over and the moon was slowly regaining its silvery and shiny color.
There is so much to convey and write but my fingers give up as I need rest. In short we learned that Perisha and his daughter, Malva, saved us and offered help. We were blessed with new forms that were stronger to survive in the harsh coldness and ruined city with little supplies. After this event Perisha created statue out of destroyed buildings in the middle of a city resembling her and Malva. She did similar thing with smaller beacons that were placed in various places of our city, upholding the semi-transparent purple barrier.
With that done Perisha went back to her tasks, leaving us with her daughter that guided us. With an everlasting smile she guided us and... Learned. Even though she was a god she was not knowledgeable about standard ways of mortal's life thus leading to many confusing situations and orders... Yet she never scolded us, always encouraged and made sure to give her best. To this day I'm not sure what made us so special to be spared but me and my family can never be more thankful than we currently are."
- Jez'ra Heavyhoof, years after being saved.
Night of the Blood Moon is named this piece of paper as it is the only written form that survived since the origin of Enrali. Every Enrali knows its origin and how what is contained in it, many wishing that Jez'ra had more strength the day she wrote this page of her journal as even Malva struggles with properly describing the events of this night, often mixing the order of things and details.
