Ether
Making up all of the corporeal and incorporeal is a force known simply as Ether. It is a primordial substance that originates from the Cosmos and is, at its origin, chaos itself. When the Eldest appeared and attempted to order the Cosmos, they did so by capturing and converting cosmic Ether, transforming it into a controlled state that they themselves could bend into shape and from it, countless galaxies like Auria would soon be born.
Since then, existence has forever been sustained on the forces of Ether. It is what makes the land solid, the flames warm, the rivers flowing, the air breathable and the very cycle of life and death going - Ether is in everything; Ether is everything.
Ether takes three forms - Chaotic, Incorporeal and Corporeal. As mentioned previously, Chaotic Ether is its most natural state whilst Incorporeal and Corporeal are both ordered Ether, made by the Eldest and supervised by the Gods to sustain a continued existence in defiance against the Cosmos. Those who practice Magic learn to bend Ordered Ether to their own will, altering it in their own ways.
Chaotic Ether
Chaotic, or Demonic Ether is its true form, the root of existence itself. It is an unyielding force that, when exposed to ordered Ether, attempts to tear the Eldest's work back down to its most primal state. From Chaotic Ether Demons are born from as nightmarish visages of people fallen to the corruption and destruction of the Cosmos. Few exist who can tame this force as the use of Chaotic Ether is strictly forbidden in almost all societies in Auria because of how dangerous it can be, especially when it should fall into irresponsible hands and spread out like a wildfire of taint.
Those exposed to Chaotic Ether go through numerous of changes like their emotions becoming primal and chaotic and their bodies beginning to break down and twist into mutated forms. It is said to be a painful experience as your very ordered is broken a hundred times over in a blink of the eye.
Incorporeal Ether
This form of Ether is considered pure and most potent as it exists in a form outside of the scope of the physical. It exists in everything much like corporeal Ether exists as everything but while the latter is visible with the naked eye, the former is only visible to those with a highly trained eye and a powerful enough sense.
Incorporeal Ether makes up the realm of the dead - the Afterworld, as well as everything that belongs there: The Gods, The Souls of the departed, the mythical land upon which they tread.
Incorporeal Ether subsequently takes the form of six different elements - Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Life and Death with the latter two combining together to create Spirit, the true fifth Element. Each of these elements is governed over by a Prime God, the cornerstones of the divine in Auria. They are the most powerful forms of Gods from which all other Gods are born from.
Fire
Prime God: Incendius
Fire represents Creation and Destruction. Without it, forges cannot function and food cannot be cooked, but just as it can make, it can also destroy at the blink of an eye. in the wrong hands, Fire can become uncontrollable and destructive.
Water
Prime God: Aquaneph
Water represents Change and Wisdom. Those who study the waters may also find inner peace a lot quicker. It is through water that wisdom travels the fastest. One should, however, not take water as something that does not fight back, as water can manifest itself into a powerful material known as Ice or Frost.
Earth
Prime God: Teracota
Earth represents Stability and Form. It is the ground upon which we all walk on and the land upon which all can grow. It protects people from harm but can also hurt them with its incredible weight. In living bodies, Earth is the body itself.
Earth
Prime God: Caelus
Wind represents Swiftness and Freedom. Much like air itself, the people that looked to the winds are inspired to stay true to themselves and choose to walk their own paths rather than be subjugated into another's ways. Wind can be dangerous as well, able to turn into raging cyclones or slicing gusts.
Spirit
Prime Gods: Rengrown and Perisha
Spirit represents Life and Death. It is the cycle of being; the passion and emotions of everyone; the experiences garnered made manifest in spirit. Inarguably, Spirit is the most powerful of all Elements as it is what grants all other beings their consciousness. While two separate elements, one cannot exist without the other.
Corporeal Ether
Also known as Physical Ether is the Ether that is found in the realm of the living - Auria. It is everything from the wood to the rocks, from living organisms to fire and water. It is a physical manifestation of Ordered Ether though for any person or being it is simply the environment and the people that surround them. Early and beginner forms of magic manipulate this type of Ether as it is easiest to bond with.
Corporeal Ether is a physical form of Incorporeal Ether, which makes it less powerful and more static.
