The Black Forest is a stretch of land found south of Hearth Lake and is predominantly covered in woodland. Its southern and eastern edges are two dangerously steep cliff-faces with a grassy stretch of land between them serving as a sort of ramp. The forest lies in the shadow of the Skystriker Mountains with a thin stretch of its territory running parallel to it and towards Hillshire, where it ends at the edge of town.

South of the Black Forest lies the Deathwake Shore which used to be considered part of the Black Forest but since the beginning of the new millennia the shore's woodland has decayed and withered, causing it to resemble a horrid and haunted coastline deserving its own name.

As far back as the dawn of the first Luxfordian empire, the Black Forest has been known as both a bountiful forest and a challenge to overcome. Its healthy trees have served as fine lumber for the nation for countless generations and the stout animals, including Blackpaw Wolves, inhabiting the forest are hunted for both their tough furs and hearty meats alike.

The Black Forest has always been known subject for fairytales and warnings, for good reasons as the creatures that inhabit it are hostile and very territorial. Giant Falcons and ferocious wolves prey upon both lone travellers and parties of adventures braving the Black Forest. Not only that, the forest itself fights against the light of the sun and moons, shrouding the land beneath its trees in utter darkness even in the brightest of summer days - only a handful of lit groves can be found throughout the woods where sun- or moonlight can reach the ground... but these places are also the dens of the Black Forest's denizens.
