Background
The Oni are a tribe of Naga who worship Demons.
Though their origins are unknown, traces of their twisted culture can be traced back to the 1400s during a period where a faction of Naga known as the Oni attempted to overthrow the Hebi Dynasty and bring a widespread use of magic into their society. They would eventually be successful in establishing the Oni as the new dynasty to lead the Naga. Following her rise to the throne, Empress Majikku Kokuja of the Oni begun reforming their young empire's law and cultures to favour the excessive use of magic while also introducing a pantheon of Gods previously unheard of, Gods that the people of the Oni Dynasty were forced to worship lest they be cut down. Among these gods was one particular figure, the one known as Hebakuma.
The Oni Dynasty was short-lived, being succeeded by the Kurabu Dynasty in the 1900s, yet records state that the members of the Dynasty would refuse to be dethroned so easily. A civil war would break out, the newly risen Kurabu Dynasty fighting to purify the Oni kin from their cities believing them as the spawn of Demons and Chaos. The war would end with the supposed destruction of the Oni, their numbers executed for treason against the Empress.
Following the Grand War and the death of Empress Uneiko Shorai, a reemergence of the Oni would occur in Serena wishing to fill the void left behind by the Luxfordians. A secreted organization led by a figure known as Orochi, the Oni fought the Luxfordian forces left behind to occupy Jad'ir, slaughtering the Humans after their leadership believed Serena to be conquered. Orochi and his forces would take hold of Jad'ir from the Humans, turning the city into a festering ground of demonic rituals, yet their victory would be short lived as two years later the Liberation Front emerged in Gwynbrenon to liberate the planets from Luxfordian occupation, their forces outweighing the numbers of the Oni forcing them to retreat into the shadows allowing Empress Sakura Hiroyama to take the throne and restore the Shin Dynasty.
The tale of the Oni is believed to not be over yet - recently their activities have been spotted throughout Serena as well as other planets, most notably Gwynbrenon, Saberos and even Wyrmeron.
