Background
When Auria was created, mortals were presented with eternal life, a gift they knew not how to treat as destruction and careless was born from it. To fix this, the Eldest forced their creations into a cycle of life and death they called the Soulstream and appointed the Gods Perisha and Rengrown as the starts and ends of each cycle. However, to watch over the in-betweens, the Eldest created Unysta, who in turn created the vast dreamworld of Somniva that would act as the heart of the Afterworld and a place for all Souls, both those of the deceased and those of the sleeping living, to rest and dream.
To aid her in her task, Unysta also created the Dryads, stalwart protectors of the Dream, as well as the Wisps, potent caretakers and child-like tricksters of the endless groves. She gifted both these races with the potent powers of Somniva itself which they could use to soothe or entertain souls visiting Somniva or even temporarily bring sleeping mortals to the Dream to rejuvenate their spirits.
When barbaric Humans trespassed upon Gwynbrenon, pillaging the woods and sending innocent Elves into the Afterworld, the God of the Hunt Fenros asked Unysta to aid in exacting punishment upon the raiders to which she agreed, pairing up with the Wolf God and sending each and every one of the barbarians into the forests of Somniva, using their desire for battle to her advantage by cursing them, transforming the rage-filled Humans into a race of anthropomorphic wolves called the Wolfen that would be forced to serve the Gods as warriors and protectors of the Afterworld.
She wages an eternal war with Z'thulun, the Black Father, who's continued attempts of taking over the Dream have time and time again been stopped by the Goddess of Dreams. When Demons from the Cosmos found a way to create a direct gateway between Auria and Somniva, Unysta was forced to divert her forces fighting the Nightmare towards defending the Afterworld from invading Demons trying to dismantle the realm and return it to chaos. This ultimately led to the Nightmare being able to create a strong enough foothold in the Dream.
Although she may appear lifeless or even threatening, she is a compassionate God who finds joy in acting motherly and caring towards all she can. She is a powerful user of both Druidic and Dreamweaving magic and combined with her bladed legs she is a relentless fighter in times of need. She nurtures the souls that arrive in her woods with love and affection to the point that she is known to hold those that sleep in her grasp as they dream away under the starlit forest's shade.
Powers and Abilities
Unysta is a potent spellcrafter who employs battlefield manipulation in her arsenal to disrupt, confuse or weaken her opponents. She is powerful enough to stand against the likes of Heras in her prime and agile enough to stay elusive against Fenros or Caelus. She is cold and calculative, often summoning an army's worth of souls to her side to fight against the greater evil, tying their essences to her own to safeguard them from destruction.
In the blink of an eye, Unysta may change the battleground from an arid desert into a fertile forest or a volcanic hellscape, toying with the perception of her foes until they are vulnerable to be struck down and claimed.
Physical Description
Unysta's appearance is that of a large, almost artificial-looking butterfly. Her skin is that of a silvery-blue wood that shines almost like metal with regal details to her bodyparts. Starlight and stardust flows off her body in an eternal stream.
Her head is oval-shaped with two glistening eyes on each side, large and impressive eyelashes reaching over them and fluttering with starlight with every blink. Long antenna reach out from her skull, pointed forward as they gently flow with the wind. Her torso is wide at her chest, with a feminine bust prominent in her build. Her arms are slim and flexible, ending with small, soft paws. Her waist briefly goes slim before reaching her bottom which bear the shape of a birthgiver's hips. Her long legs do not have feet, instead they end with two sharp, pointy blades that look more threatening to some than they should.
Unysta's large, lepidoptera wings reach up to 10 meters in width, making her silhouette an impressive sight alone. A river of starlight flows through her wings, ever moving like a hypnotic visual which is meant to put one to sleep when stared at for too long.
