The Hawktalon

Deldarach was born into a poor Asvarian servant family in New Luxford, the surname Hawktalon not even existing at that time. He would be the older brother to his younger sister Belasra and their parents would pass away from harsh treatments inflicted upon by the Luxfordian royalties.

Seeking to not die in simple service, a young Deldarach began to work hard to climb up in authority in the city, soon being placed in the military as a simple footsoldier. Though his life was placed into a New Luxford barracks, the young male often found time to return to their less than fruitful home now watched over by his sister Belasra. With the money he earned making in the military, though it wasn't much, he was able to support his sister to spare her from being a servant to a depraved Human lord

Instead what ended up happening was Deldarach saving his Human Commander from a tragic end when their patrol squad was ambushed by a gang of Keklar plaguechemists and their toxic fumes, their commander split from them to face the assassins alone while the group of Humans and Asvars were surrounded by acidic clouds and begin to die a slow death which was stopped by the prodigy Asvar securing a long-distance shot into the contraptions that fueled the toxic gasses, allowing the Luxfordians to regroup with their commander and secure the win. When word got out that it was Deldarach's sharp eye that won the battle that day, the Human Commander named Voss Greyfeather not only appraised him but shared his heroic tale with the other commanders which would grant Deldarach the opportunity to rise up in power even further. On a faithful day Voss would return to Deldarach with good news - he had been allowed the chance to prove himself in a trial that, if passed, would give him the honours of becoming a commander himself.

The trials prepared for Deldarach were not meant to be winnable as the military lord at that time did not wish to see an Asvar rise to such rank yet it was with a help from within that Deldarach managed to pass the trials with ease, having been fed by Voss inside information that allowed him to spot the points in the challenges that were made to be impossible and the points that could be exploited. In the end, with flying colours the Asvar won through the trials and was promoted to the ranks of a Commander. To celebrate his promotion, Deldarach would return to his family home to see his sister who had been able to pick up her own life, finding a man in her life who did not treat her like discarded trash and even provided her with work in the library. Happy for one another's success in life, Belasra proposed that their family needs a proper name to go by and Deldarach proposed one: "Hawktalon", a nickname he received in the army thanks to his keen eye and accurate shots.

A decade would roll by with both siblings living separate ways of life yet still finding time to see one another, their old home sold off with Belasra moving in with her now-husband. On a visit to his house, Deldarach was told by his sister stories of a Draconic capital on a distant glacial planet where they used the "tools of creation" to weave and shape existence to their will, all of this foretold by a book titled "The Draconic Secrets" written by an individual known as Boras Quilleye, a book which was gifted to Deldarach by his sister on his 50th birthday. Reading through the book sparked an interest in the now-older Asvar which prompted him to lead a secret expedition onto Wyrmeron in search of these tools of creation. intrigued by his stories, his old friend Voss also joined him in the journey, the only Human in the group. On their path to exploring the icy planet which posed many dangers, the leadership of Deldarach allowed them to survive any threat that came their way.

History's Greatest Thief

Their journey first began in Whitewind Rise, the capital of the Avari and the only settlement with a Skyship dock on the planet. From there they gathered information about the Dragons and that their city of magic is through a treacherous path only the Urson to the east know how to cross. That is why their expedition traveled east as well in hopes of meeting the mythical bearmen that have only been seen on rare occasions up to this point. In Asgaror, capital of the Urson, the Commanders of Luxfordia sought audience with the king and explain his troubles of reaching the city of Dragons in search of knowledge. To his surprise, the king not only wished to help his cause but was willing to personally accompany him on his journey, bringing with him a squadron of elite guard that would prove to aid them in their journey.

It had already been two years since Deldarach and Voss left the Imperia on this mission of trust but finally they had reached the peaks of Winterfury, the land of the Dragons. They would cross the perilous Desolate Towers, the region with hundreds of rock spires rising from a deek dark chasm only to stand at the gates of the lower city of Dragonhearth being denied entrance by the Draken standing guard. Not even allowed an audience this time, Deldarach would grow furious as their efforts being thrown away but he would not give up on it so soon. Forcing his group to climb up the mountains surrounding the city trying to be as subtle as possible despite the protests of the Urson king, Deldarach would take information from the book given to him by his sister which detailed the city of the Dragons and a place known as the Arcane Reliquary where they found an infinite source of knowledge that mesmerized the trio and their followers with awe. This vault would not only be full of knowledge treasured by the Dragons, it would also be the most dangerous enemy territory that Deldarach had even required to pass and though Voss was with him to the end, Falgon began doubting his actions when they snuck deeper in, searching for something his book described as a tome of immeasurable powers.

It would take days to cross the maze-like Reliquary of the Dragons before they would find a central chamber housing the Cosmic Lexicon big enough to be held in hand by a full-grown Dragon which required the help of the large Urson warriors to carry. Before they were ready to leave with it, Deldarach began to study the pages within to prove its authenticity, practicing the simplest of magics taught by the book and when he himself witnessed frost and fire shooting out the palms of his hands after doing such as the book guided him to, he knew that it was what they were searching for. With one last stretch to cross, King Falgon began to try and make Deldarach reconsider his actions on this day but he would not give in, believing that if the Dragons wish to be greedy with their powers then they are not the rightful owners of it. Carrying such a giant book down the mountains of Winterfury would not go unnoticed and sooner or late the roar of a unified Draconic flight would come from the city itself as they escaped the region. They did their best to stay hidden but it was obvious that it was the book itself that acted as a beacon for them to follow. As they hid in a cave planning out their next move, Deldarach studied the book deep to find a spell that could aid them in this dire time and he would discover one that allowed him to cast illusions, though not very study ones. He would be able to create a false copy of the book emitting a similar energy to the real one... all it now took was for it to be used in the right way.

To secure his friend's safety and to make sure their efforts would not end in vain, Voss took it upon himself to direct the attention of the majority of the Dragons chasing them, running westward while Deldarach journeyed east towards Whitewind Rise. In Voss' hands was the giant book big enough to crush him and the silly sight of the man garbed in armour carrying the heavy book through the snow was nearly enough to make the Dragons reconsider killing him as they watched him carry the book they believed to be the real one. With the command from one of the older Dragons hellbent on retrieving the book, the Dragons would descent upon Voss, his eyes full of fear for the first time in his life as massive blade-like claws came down to cut him down, slashing his stomach and forcing him to drop the tome to the ground, the illusion shimmering away to reveal it as another book, a smaller one that was gifted to Deldarach by his sister. In complete shock of this revelation, the Dragons scattered to find the real one while Voss was left to die in the snow, the distance between them making it hard for the Dragons to now track the book proper.

The distraction gave the rest of the expedition time to reach Avari territory and before long they were able to reach Whitewind with Fylkir Falgon and the Urson splitting up from them saying that what they have done this day will have dire aftershocks and though Deldarach believed that the fury of Dragons will be dire, the powers within the book will ultimately even the battlefield for them. To aid the Urson in the battles to come, Deldarach decided to rip a hundred pages from the book and hand them to the King to let them study them while he took the rest back to Imperia, breathing a heavy sigh as he watched the icy landscape draw further and further, his mind occupied by the loss of his Human friend and the sacrifice he had to make to get them this book. That including the warnings of Falgon ringed through his head as he believed that if he had the chance to turn back time and stop himself from coming here, he would have done so... but now with the sacrifices done and the wounds dealt it was time to press onwards.

The Archmage

Once more in his homeland, Deldarach was a changed man. He had gained power from the Dragons but the costs weighed on him. Without wasting any time he established his presence within New Luxford, gathering an insurgence of Asvars willing to rebel against the corrupt system his kingdom was placed in where his kind were seen as lesser beings by the Humans, teaching his finest and most loyal followers the secrets of the book he had stolen from the Dragons itself, earning himself a new title as "Fooler of Dragons". He did not care for high praises or wealth right now and only wished to secure a future for his people and under his leadership the Asvars began leading riots all over New Luxford that reached a boiling point three years later, forcing the King to quench their thirst for justice by allowing them equal rights and granting Deldarach a seat in his council so that he may speak for all Asvars going forward. With this power given to him, Deldarach's demands continued to roll in, firstly wanting resources and land to build a sanctuary in northern Imperia where Humans may not set foot in, providing protection for the Asvars. This place would soon to be known as Etherin, with the heart of it being a massive academy governed over by Deldarach himself so that he may pass on the knowledge of magic to new generationsm, believing that one day this use of magic in the hands of all Asvars would provide them the edge to fully take over Luxfordia.

Close to a century would go by with Etherin developing powerful Magi away from Human eyes but the news of their growing city would reach the ears of other civilizations of the world. When Senkh, Elves, Troll, Fenik, Naga and even Urson came knocking on the gates of Etherin demanding that the secrets they hold be shared with the rest of the world, Deldarach's older mind had grown closed-off and his heart cold, at first attempting to silence the protests coming down upon his gates. It took the voice of one woman, his own dear sister now a widow, to change his mind, having told him the stories of when he traveled to Wyrmeron to seize Magic from the closed-off hearts of Dragons wanting to share it with the world, in the process losing a dear friend because of it, in return Deldarach now in tears telling her of the fear he has had growing in him of this power going to the hands of everyone, the thought that maybe the Dragons hid this knowledge away for a reason eating away at his soul but her calm demeanor would help calm him down too, her confidence assuring her that of course Magic will be used for tragic actions but it will also bring many wonders that will shape Auria into something greater than it already was.

And so it was with his sister's support that Deldarach opened the gates of Etherin Academy for all races, no matter what walks of life one comes from he believed that they should be share their knowledge with everyone. Belasra herself would join her brother in teaching subjects in the academy, working together till old age took their lives close to one another, leaving behind new generations capable of incredible feats of magic, a thought that let Deldarach pass onto the afterworld without a regret.

Powers and Abilities

Prior to the discovery of Magic, Deldarach was a prominent swordsman and archer, being able to slash with an elven cutlass with deadly precision and sure strikes and consistently shoot an arrow over 200 meters nearly never missing his mark.

After returning to Imperia with the secrets of Magic revealed to him, Deldarach forsook his skills with physical weapons and instead fully devoted his attention to using Magic to exert his will upon his enemies. Early onto his use of sorcery Deldarach practiced Frost and Fire magic, using them to burn away at the competition or freeze his victims solid. He also learned close-range teleportations and conjuring magical barriers around allies to protect them from harm. Though he possessed the knowledge of making basic illusions, he never employed this skill after the death of Voss.

Physical Description

Deldarach was a well-toned Asvar male with long blonde hair often tied up and thrown over his shoulder to prevent it getting in his eyesight. His complexity was fair prior to using magic but once he began studying it deeper his skin would become paler over the years.

Deldarach wore Asvarian clothes specially tailored for sorcery with runes and magical signatures adorning his armor. Accessories like pouches and a tome would hang from his belt. His clothing would inspire future generations of Etherin student garbs.
